It's a really difficult thing for most people to discuss without getting emotional. I'd say I'm kind of a nihilistic atheist so my objections are really just practical, i.e. what kind of society do we want to have? I think Golden Jet misunderstood me one time when I said that if someone really believes it's murder, that would obviously justify the murder of those performing it. I wasn't advocating for such action.

I don't think there's any justice/punishment for killing a living thing other than the justice/punishment that we design. But if we fail to acknowledge the humanity of the embryo, it's a short step to sanctioning the murder of an unwanted child (and I don't know what else you could call it at that point) which is already being written into law in certain states, and from there it's just another couple steps to me having the moral ground to kill you because you have stupid baseball opinions.

Serious question, though. When you have "doctors" performing abortions which they can legally do up to the moment a baby is born and they are respected in society and rewarded monetarily, how could you punish a scared young mother who gave birth and then put the child in the trash? What's the real difference? In fact, I might argue that the former is more repugnant as it is done for profit while the latter is likely done solely out of fear/confusion/panic. I have a lot more sympathy for that mother who didn't really know what to do, but now we are on that slippery slope.

I have wondered for years about that angle. Respecting women's bodies sort of trumps men's rights seemingly.

There's no seemingly about it.

Are there doctors performing abortion up to the time of birth?

I think it's the same rights as the other human being, isn't it?

How does someone who isn't gestating the baby have a potentially greater say than the person who IS gestating?

Why draw the line at a fertilized embryo? Jizzing in a sock is stealing potential life.

If he wins then he does. And even if he doesn't someone can use the threat of filing a case to compel another to give birth.

I'm assuming the fetus and any tissue is long gone, how ya going to prove this kid was the Dad? All she has to say is she slept with a few people at that time.

This point is another of my struggles. Take that logic into other equations and do the math to see how it comes out.

Make it simple. Until the umbilical cord is cut, the fetus is considered a piece of the woman's body. She has the final say up until that time. Leave this whole "child" concept out of the equation until the cord is cut.

When implanting the fetus into the man or some other vessel becomes a viable option, then get back to me.

Baby is born. Doctor asks dad if he wants to cut the cord. Mom grabs scissors and stabs baby through the heart and kills it.

Slippery slope, man.

Or just be like some of the more backward of the Muslims and east Asians and just kill the mother for having sex out of wedlock.

Hey, I'd be fine with the prostitution version of food trucks - "Joanie's truck is going to be at Imperial Oak from 7-10pm. Blowjobs from just $50."
