PM, it is my opinion that everything is over diagnosed these days. Take hyper young boys being put on meds because they are said to have ADHD. I suspect the vast majority are just normal boys that need to exercise more.

We have society addicted to meds to fix every imagineable problem. Pills to fix the side effects from other pills.

It all drowns out the folks with real issues.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. The overprescription of medication doesn't necessarily mean we are over-diagnosed. I think there are spectrums for everything. Go ahead and read every personality disorder, and tell me you don't have at least a couple qualities from each one. We are all just on various spectrums, and the medical community has decided to give you the label if you pass a certain threshold. Anxiety is a good example. Everyone has it. Some of it is desirable. If it wasn't there, no one would feel pressure to do certain things that are needed. It's only if you have too much that is a problem... but the cut-off for what represents "too much" is somewhat arbitrary. "Too much" is whatever an individual and a doctor determine to be too much. I think you're oversimplifying it. Things you consider "small" may not be small to some people. You don't have to be some anti-social freak to have crippling anxiety, and you don't have to be some lazy do-nothing who sits in bed all day to have crippling depression. I agree we overmedicate, but that's a separate issue.

i believe that bourdain had good intent, but he missed the boat to reality. definitely needed help. emily seems as though she can't make a good life decision to save her life. she didn't know she married a player. once brad gets tired of her, i'm thinking she'll really need help.
