Yes I understand the Alt right cannot handle these examples of strong women.

One thing I hope Disney realizes from the Alt Right damage to the last 2 Star Wars films is you can't just force an agenda on your audience without also having the great components of a movie around it. The Last Jedi just wasn't a strong enough film to carry the weight of such an obvious SJW agenda.

I have no evidence of this theory, but I suspect the MCU pulled back on the power of Captain Marvel in comparison to the likes of Thor and Doctor Strange due to the Star Wars backlash.

It's not the fact she's a strong woman. Leah was a strong character. Ripley was a strong woman. Rey is a shitty character. It's not being an incel or right wing troll. She is just poorly acted and characterized.

You know who else is a shitty character? Luke Skywalker. He's a whiny little bitch from beginning to end of these crappy movies.

I had no interest in this film from the get go. Each trailer I see for it makes me want to see it less.

What sucks is they way Marvel does shit, you are going to have to see the movie to make things work plot wise down the line. I don't like Thor but once I watched them a lot fell into place. I just saw AntMan/Wap this weekend, not only was it a good movie but it set other things up. That is why Marvel is superior to Dc.

They know exactly what they are doing with this film. There is a reason why they are dropping it, right before Avengers. It is gonna suck. Not had bad as Thor or Thor 2 though.

Marketing for this is out of control. Who cares? Final avengers is next month and not a peep.

Pretty sure by next Monday it will be all Avengers all the time until April 26th, and then people will be discussing it for a month or two after that.

The reviews I've read are just damning with faint praise other than that turbo burrito cuck Peter Travers

I literally have about 0 interest in watching this, but because of my love for Marvel, I will see it.....

For anyone who thinks you HAVE to see this to see Avengers, did you actually have to see Black Panther?

BP wasn’t really integral to the Avengers plot though. Captain Marvel is allegedly the savior who rescues them...unless it turns out to be Ant Man.

Just back from it. Tried to go in with low expectations and I was pleasantly surprised.Compared to the rest of the MCU the cast is real small. Bree holds her own against Law,Benning and Jackson. Besides her story it is also the story of how Fury got his start in the world of heros. We learn a lot that helps tie a lot of things together.
They changed they start screen from the Normal comic pages flipping to one of an homage to Stan the Man. Very cool and fitting.
If you like the 90s you will like the movie, tons of references and music, almost all by girl bands.
Fight scenes are great they are a throwback to the Ironman ones in that it is her alone fighting the bad guys mostly.
I gave an audible aww shit when the McGuffin was revealed.

Spoilers

Stans cameo if you know 90s pop culture is spot on and made me laugh a lot.Hint:references a movie where he made his first cameo that was directed buy a huge comic book geek,Fatman.

We see how Fury loses his eye.

We see where he gets the name of the Initiative

When Fury talks to a certain person and asks him questions you have to watch his head movements

We see why Fury trusts Coulson so much

Non spoiler

The rumor is that we are going to see Johnny Blaze in Endgame.

The music is great and the pop culture stuff is cool .
There are 2 post credit scenes . First one is needed to link to Endgame, the other one kinda explains the start of Thor/Avengers

I am not going to hate on the movie, but I was very disappointed. I had low expectations going in though.

Lame movie...really not necessary to watch prior to Avengers Endgame if you’re wondering.

I saw Captain Marvel yesterday afternoon. It liked it quite a bit. Maybe I should go into more movies with low expectations.

I enjoyed the replacement of the usual Marvel movie open of flipping comic books pages with a montage devoted to Stan Lee, and his cameo with Carol acknowledging and smiling at him was great.

I had read comments about Brie's acting being wooden or just...bad, but I thought her perfomance was good.

Based on what I had read leading up to the relase of the movie I was wary of it being full of ham-handed and pandering themes of feminism and girl power, but did not see any of that. My sister, who also enjoys the Marvel movies, was also wary of it, especially after the botched attempts at this by recent Star Wars movies.

It was nice to get some background on the relationship betwee the Kree and the Skrulls. It was also nice, for someone like me who was not familar with the Captain Marvel comics, to finally find out if Carol was human or not to begin with.

How much of Nick Fury and Colson were CGI (besides the obvious -- their faces)? They both, especially Fury, looked considerably more broad-shouldered and square-jawed than they do in real life. It's like they said "As long as you're making our faces look younger, how about..." I guess I just answered my own question...

Did Dr. Wendy Lawson bring Goose with her to earth? AKAIK, cats don't do that.

I liked how Carol struggled a bit with her new powers as opposed to having full mastery of them right away.

The glowy enegry around her looked cool, and her outfit with the red, blue, and yellow colors looks great.
