roseanne doesn't have a good track record anyway. but i think because her tweet was so insane and she had been so outspoken, the cast just wanted to separate from her. in her apology, she cites that they fired her because she voted for trump. i don't think it was that specifically seeing as how they hired her after she had been public about voting for trump. she just didn't respond well to the criticism and didn't take responsibility for what she said very well.
gunn's situation is a bit different. his tweets are also insane, but he wrote them at a time when barely anyone paid attention to twitter. he comes from a background that includes a sick sense of humor.
twitter has no context, so everything can be taken as whatever people want to make of it. neither gunn nor roseanne should've been fired. but roseanne's camp was less supportive because they knew she could've kept her mouth shut and played nice. gunn was basically sabotaged for shit that he said years ago, clearly in jest (as tasteless as the jokes were).
