Went outside for lunch and it was mid 40s. The high here on Friday is 40. I'm going to work a half day tomorrow and then go out and hit the links and buy the pass. Works out better. Leaves Thursday and Friday open for watching some hoops as well.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the dropping temps in the forecast, but if Friday is like today it should be warm enough to play.

40 is doable with no wind but that doesn't happen very often. Should be warm enough through this weekend for no other reason than I am really
desperate to get out there. Below 50 when the fall rolls around and enjoying nice weather all summer is a hard ask for me. One of the reasons I
hung it up in mid-October last year.

I too would rather 60s, but I'm fine with 40s and low winds at this point. I have a slam bang busy Saturday afternoon & evening though so if there is any sort of a lengthy frost delay, my round will be toast :(

Agree on the desperation to playing taking precedence over comfort at this point.

Got the email from my club today that the course is open for walking only. Going to grab a few clubs and play a couple holes after work.

Hit the ball relatively well for first time out. That happens sometimes early in the season. New driver has a lot of potential. I hit it pretty low and with the low spin head and shaft I didn't get the severe right to left motion until the last few holes. New driving iron is going to work great as well. Soft conditions helped keep the ball on or near the fairway. Greens obviously shaggy. Supposed to play this weekend with my usual guys. Picked up my yearly pass, upgraded this year and so now I have unlimited golf and range balls which will be nice. Also got 4 free passes so I thought that was a nice bonus. Didn't rain at all and the course drained pretty well. Hope everyone gets a chance to play soon. Hopeful for a good season.

Just ordered some Vice drive golf balls for the summer. Going back to our previous discussion here is why.

One, I want to use a decent golf ball at a good price. These came in a 10.95 a dozen plus flat rate ship from Munich 6.95. I bought 5.

Two, I wanted to stick with one ball all summer and work on what my problems and not the ball were.

Three, these are similar to the Warbird in my opinion and I did not want a ton of spin and "magic" tricks to influence ball flight this year. I can't control it anyway and I want to see again what my problems are.

Four, I just felt like this was the way to go so there I went. Updates will come periodically.

I'm planning on using the same balls this summer as well...only because I got a bunch for Christmas. :)

My decisions are actually in large part based on his and T-Bone's posts to me on previous page.

I found the Vice to be a very solid ball overall. They got me to buy 5 dozen before the season last year. I used them for about 6-8 weeks and eventually migrated back to the Pro V's. I will likely use them again early in the season until the weather gets a little nicer. They just felt a little different than the Pro V's, didn't spin as much and for whatever reason they get scuffed up pretty easily.

I don't usually keep my balls located long enough to worry about wearing out covers.

 Same.

The only ball I really don't like using are Titlest to be honest. I think they spin quite a bit more than is beneficial to me. I noticed it last year when I tended to slice way more when using them. Of course, its likely the indian and not the arrowhead.

Still holding out hope to play tomorrow, and given that I have only hit about 40 balls since November I will be using crappy ones.

I read this when looking into the Snell guy that was a designer with Titleist. He felt the same and convinced me.

My backyard course is soft opening this weekend, but with all the rain we have had lately, plus the fact that I am nowhere near the shape I should be in to hit the ball worth a damn, I'm going to hold off for awhile. I gotta start lifting and riding/running a bit. Probably going to wait until later in April or even May to get out.

It was a GLORIOUS day at Prairie Landing, at least when the sun was out. Wind was a big factor. No roll out whatsoever, so the course played longer. Ballstriking and putting were dialed in, driver got a little iffy before I figured it out on the back 9. Very happy with the results since I didn't hit the range/dome over the winter.

Sitting here talking to an electrician I know. He is doing the work at a new virtual golf place that's opening in a few weeks in Libertyville.

Looks pretty cool

Two rounds in for 2019. Hitting everything with a club cover great (D though 4H), but still can't hit an iron. It is in my head at this point.

Hit some good chips/pitches that in a month from now would be tap ins, but came up short because of the slow/shaggy greens. The early returns on the new putter are positive.

Hit the ball halfway decent and the driver starting to come around when I figured out I needed to get my hips through better. No roll so I played up
a tee box. Missed 9 putts inside 8 feet and shot an 82. Airmailed a few greens but the chipping was solid I just couldn't convert anything. I had a 35
foot putt for birdie on #17, kept the pin in and went after it. Ended up hitting the side of the pin and lipping out. My guys were giving me a lot of
shit for that one, could have won me a few bucks.

I'm trying to get used to leaving the pin in on occasion. Much prefer the sound of the ball hitting the bottom of the cup unimpeded. It's a sensory game for me as much as anything else. We'll see.

I'll make more of a decision on it when the greens are a higher quality. For now we have been leaving it in and works well when playing with others as it speeds the game up around the green and putting up. We figured it probably saved us a minute a hole. I think I will take it out for shorter range putts but for long lags or tricky down hill putts I think the stats are there to back up leaving it in.

49-38 at Silver Lake on Saturday morning. Had about a 90-minute frost delay, but after that once we get out the weather was perfect. 100% sunshine and hardly any wind. I had on just one long sleeve layer, and took my winter hat off by about the 4th hole.

Course was in decent shape. Few mushy spots, but there was a clear differentiation between the rough and the fairway. The greens while slow, had definitely been rolled and cut at some point so they weren't too bad. My putting on the front was not very good I was leaving a lot of putt short and did not chip well. This improved on the back.

Played the best stretch of golf I've had in probably a year-and-a-half from the 9th hole on. Hit the hell out of my driver (little or no roll), put a few irons within 10 ft off the pin, had two birdies, 4 Pars, and the rest single bogeys until my worst shot of the day where I dunked a ball in to a creek on the short par three #18. Ended up with a 5, but left the course in such a good mood as I hadn't finish a "9" with a score in the 30s since the 2017 season. Really felt good to get out there and hit some good shots.

Oh yeah, keeping the flag in is great for the longer putts. Unless it's downhill, anything inside like 8 feet feels obtrusive to me. I still have to go over the other rule changes before I begin to keep stats and post a handicap.

I experimented with at least 5 putters and different grips last year and I'm back to my trusty TM Ghost Stingray center shaft w/a Winn ProX 1.18 grip. Put on a fresh grip and it just feels right.

It definitely speeds up play. Everyone just goes to your ball and gets ready to putt.
