Hahn would laugh n hang up.

Here's the problem with a deal like that. While chances are that neither of those guys will be as good as Hendricks, you couldn't take the chance of trading that kind of stuff for him.

Agreed.. I think Hahn would say Hendricks n Contreras for Giolito- lopez.

Cost control is so critical. It is literally the reason the Sox got that haul for Sale and Q above what other available players that were going to be free agents. Kyle is a free agent in 2021. Plus his next two arb years will cost a decent amount. With the payroll tax, you are seeing teams act as if it is a salary cap.

The Sox' guys don't even have a full year of MLB service time.

Talent wise it may be a wash.

So this has my group tonight arguing. Shakes, you might be the most useful in this.

Put Westbrook and Stephen Adams on the very worst team in the NCAA. Do they make the Tournament and if they do, what seed are they, and do they win it all?

2 of 4 of us say they win it all and 3 out of 4 of us say they get a 1 seed.

Im in the latter group. I think they get a 1 seed but lose before the Championship game and I’m tempted to lean with the lone guy who says they would be more of a 4 or 5 seed.

What say you?

I’m still certain that would’ve been a fantastic trade for the Sox.

I'm a huge Lopez fan, Hendricks has been better than I thought but I'd trade Hendricks for Lopez in a second( as a cub fan)

I wish we were the GMs of our respective teams so I could move the Sox toward contention. Hendricks is a fucking winner and will be for another decade. I don’t know what Lopez is yet. Fuck Giolito.

Westbrook can’t shoot for shit and Adams would be limited. The other 6-8 guys are ostensibly worthless on the court and would get fucking ran by Duke or UNC or the like. Not sure about that my friend.

Westbrook would average 45, nobody could guard him.

Nobody can guard Zion and they almost lost to a 9 seed.

If you replace Westbrook with Durant I think you’re right. But if a guy can’t shoot the college rules allow a fucking giant like Tacko Fall to just chill in the paint all game long. Westbrook would not score at will, he can’t do that against a zone defense that packs the paint.

I don’t think you thought this one through.

He'd be dunking on everybody and he can knock down 10-12 footers all day against college kids. Say whatever you want about college kids but know this.. 98% of them will never make an NBA roster.. Russ averages a triple double against the best talent in the world..there's nothing to think about.

I like Hendricks, his demeanor is second to none..his stuff isn't that good. Lopez has much better stuff.

There’s a lot to think about. College basketball history is littered with teams with one phenomenal player and get treated in the Tournament due to lack of shooting and depth.

People used to say Maddux’s stuff wasn’t that good. Gavin Floyd had great “stuff”. I don’t give a fuck about that, given me a proven winner like Hendricks and I’ll gladly toss you Lopez and Giolito and it’s a fairly easy decision tbh

That one phenomenal player wasn't plucked from the NBA after averaging a triple double 2 straight years. Guys that went #1 that dominated in college usually struggle for the most part their rookie year.

I’m not sure your last sentence is true. There’s a long history of #1 picks coming in and tearing shit up.

I think you’re vastly underestimating the difference zone defenses would make on a player like Westbrook. Zero doubt he would put up otherworldly numbers but he wouldn’t be unbeatable.

Lmao fuck off, you would trade Hendricks straight up for Lopez. You can include Baez if you want Cease back too.

Who is the best career backup in Chicago pro sports?

I don't mean a "Jay Hilgenberg was a backup his rookie year" type of backup. I mean a Josh Bellamy, Cliff Levingston, Tony Graffanino type of backup. For hockey players, a #5/6 defenseman or a 4th line forward who didn't regularly kill penalties.

Mccown, 18 TD - 1 pick. He was better than that pussy Cutler.

Pisa Tinoisamoa, Frank Omiyale, Brendan Ayenbedajio, Ricky Manning, Jr., Jim Harbaugh, Henry Melton, Nick Kwiatkowski

Geoff Blum you asshole.

But yeah the answe is Kukoc but backup doesn’t feel right for him so I’ll lay an olive branch down and say David Ross is in high consideration.

I’ll personally always have a soft spot for Todd Collins and 2010.

Dwight Smith started for a bit, but shouldn't have.

Ayenbedajio is a good one.

I think we’ve narrowed it down.

It’s eitjer Geoff Blum or David Ross.

I’ll say Blum but the Cubs team was definitely more devoid of talent and closer to getting eliminated so it’s close I guess. They needed Ross. The Sox didn’t need much beyond Buehrle, Garland, Sweaty Freddy, El duke, Contreras, and Jenks.
