On one hand, you are right. On the other hand, maybe humans evolved and are now immune to diseases that injured or killed hundreds of thousands before vaccines. I don't know. We need more research.

I'm open minded enough to believe that. I am NOT open minded enough to have my son go unvaccinated just because this immunity might be possible.

When its a certainty, then let me know. Vaccinate your kids and if you don't, you reap what you sew. Its just a matter of when and not if your kid gets sick.

I don't even care if the anti-vaxxer kids get diseases. I care for those who do get vaccinated and still get it because of the spread of a disease that is controlled by herd immunity.

A friend of a friend on FB is a hardcore antivaxer. She posted some stat yesterday that said 85,000 kids have been injured due to side effects and reactions from the MMR vaccine. I did a bit of google searching, and found that nearly a billion measles vaccines have been given worldwide over the last forty years. So 0.0085% of those vaccinated have thrown a reaction. Pretty good odds I'd say

I went back and forth with these nutty moms for a few minutes, and left when I told them they had less than a 0.0085% chance of being correct.

Anti-Vax people are tremendously frustrating for a bunch of reasons, namely:

1. Vaccines are medical miracles, they are what all medicine strives to be, cost effective preventative medicine that saves untold lives and untold cost.

2. Most anti-vax people are young, and part of their rationale is "nobody gets polio" or "nobody dies from the measles anymore." Those statements are for the most part true in America, and the obvious reason they are true is because of massive vaccination campaigns.

3. (This piggybacks on point #2) but I'd guess psychologically the anti-vax morons don't view the vaccine diseases as serious, or as a threat, so they can hide behind the junk science and scare tactics that they do. I guarantee you if tomorrow there was a vaccine that prevented HIV/AIDS, all of those anti-vax people would be lined up to get themselves and their kids vaccinated.

Until they found out that, coincidentally, 0.00085% of those vaccinated will become autistic...
