Not me. I was on him before they drafted him. Literally on him.

There's a court order.

What a dumb trade. They are grossly overrating Mike Davis ability and ability to stay on field. Gave away a very good rb for nothing

For you guys who care about Fantasy Football, watch Mike Davis ADP as the draft season creeps up. He could have an absolutely monster year.

Agreed, going in, he is in position to be the main carrier; Cohen will get a lot of love too, but moreso as a receiver/change of pace back.

If they do draft a mid-round RB, that guy will be a late round pick as well.

I thought a 5th was a high as they could get. RB's just don't have much value, and he is on the last year of his deal.

Bears will likely add a RB in the draft and will go in with the position being relatively unproven.

With the Amos comp pick and now this pick, they are trying to add a few picks to next year's class. No 1st or 3rd round picks, but 2 2nd's and a few extra later round now. Pace will be able to move around some in 2020 to target a few players.

They had been talking about jettisoning him for a while. I agree with those here that said you need a bit of a bruiser back there from time to time.
Definitely thought that they would have been able to get a bit more for him or held him until someone was in desperate need, as there is no doubt
someone will lose a back in training camp or early in the season. Not sure if you can draft someone as talented as late in the draft as they are but
maybe who fits the scheme better and then do RB by committee. Just don't like the idea of not having a #1 guy back there.

Eh, I dunno, I like the trade. He's going into last year on contract, you had to get something this year or risk nothing next year.

I'll take a year of him over a 6th round pick if you are competing next year.

Agreed. Howard was a pretty nice player for the Bears. I'm ok with moving on from him at this point, but the return should have been better than a 6th round pick next year. Even a 6th round this year would have been better for the Bears.

They'd probably get at least a 6th rd compensatory pick if they let him go next year.

If he has a good season, the Bears will get a 5th Round pick.

Why should it have been better than a 6th? Nagy broadcasted to the world he prefers Cohen and didn't both to incorporate Howard into his scheme

A 2020 sixth round pick from a contending team is just a shade over undrafted free agent in present day value. They essentially traded him for salary relief.

I don't see how anyone can applaud the trade.

I'm seeing a narrative from Bears reporters this morning that it's a win for the Bears because they got anything at all for him. Makes no fucking sense. It's definitely a failure on Nagy and Pace that they essentially had to get rid of a Pro Bowl RB for nothing.

How will the Bears ever replace that 3.7 YPC next year?

It should have been better than a 6th because you just don't trade him if no one will give more than that.

I think that Nagy simply wants to have a runningback by committee approach and Howard just doesn't fit into that philosophy. He is a guy who need a minimum of 20 carries a game to make an impact and that is not what Nagy wants to do on offense. He also doesn't have the speed to get outside nor the pass catching ability out of the backfield. He is an old school kind of runner. I wish him well and hope he has a good year.

Agreed...I still think they need a thumper up the middle for short yardage, and Mike Davis doesn't feel like that guy...

Yeah but isn't that the same reason people like Grote are saying they like the Clinton-Dix acquisition--that he's in a "prove it" situation to get a good contract?
