Pretty disgusted by this outcome and feel bad for Edwards. Virginia could win the title and I'd still swear up and down they're frauds. Jerome has the most punchable face of any player left in the tournament.

I don't watch college basketball anywhere near what I used to. Back in the 90s and 00s I was a huge college basketball fan but have gotten away from it. My question is- Has this tournament been unusually great so far or did I just forget how exciting the tournament is? These games have been fantastic.

First couple rounds were actually pretty boring. However, these last 4 days have been fantastic.

Overall this has been one of the least entertaining tournaments in recent memory. First 2 round were awful. Even the S16 had mostly shitty games with a couple exceptions. Elite 8 was good which is probably when you started paying attention.

Agreed. Don't fool yourself that close games are necessarily good games. 3 of the 4 this weekend were bad games. MSU-Duke bailed the weekend out

Virginia's commitment to their maple syrup & molasses slow pace of play (353rd out of 353 teams in possessions per game: https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-baske ... s-per-game ) results in them not putting their boot on the neck of a team that comes out ice-cold the way Auburn did to start this game. Auburn leads by 3 at the half despite staring off 1/11 from 3 and below 30% shooting from the field overall for the first 14 minutes of the game. Meanwhile Virginia posts a beyond workmanlike 47% on two-pointers; but because they stood around running the clock down on offense they gave Auburn time to get their Final Four sea legs and now Auburn's leading at the half.

Both coaches apparently came out of halftime with the same strategy: give em nothing inside, make em shoot from the perimeter. Both teams chucking up 3 after 3 and both teams mostly missing. Refs not really calling anything. They need a Donte Divincenzo type to come off the bench and put the game away.
