I thought the fighting scenes were pretty decent overall. Henry is definitely annoying and I am not a huge fan of the girl they are trying to save either. No opinion on the Highwaymen as of yet other than I thought it was ridiculous that once they found out they were playing movies at the fair they decided to tone down their aggressiveness and get with the program. Something definitely going to happen at the fair and will likely bring the communities back together. Other than that it has been a pretty boring back half of the season.

Lydia will break bad again. I think it is pretty easy to see.

Yes, I could see her letting the Whisperers into the Fair or something like that.

I hope it's what happens in the comics. That would be pretty epic.

I like the Highwaymen as well, don't think they are in the comics.

Yeah that was kind of an interesting turn of events. Felt like they really rushed that story line to get it shoe horned into that episode. It was fine as I don't think it was really going anywhere but I didn't see that coming at all. Found it pretty funny that Michonne was able to kick ass being like 8 months pregnant and that none of the torture or physical toll caused her to go into labor or lose the baby. Only two more episodes left this season so should be kind of interesting to see how things play out. I think they have to keep the Whisperers around for at least another season and for any of the comic book fans it should be interesting to see how things play out with the Kingdom and if any main characters go away before the finale wraps up. I can think of one way they could leave a nice cliff hanger for next year.

I'm still waiting for them to explain why they are back to the Stone Age weapons-wise.

Where are all the guns? Only one I see is Rick's, being wielded by Judith.

They still have Eugene, so they should still be able to manufacture bullets. . .

I still haven't watched the last 30 minutes but couldn't help myself and read some spoilers after my lunch. Yeah sounds pretty interesting and the main casualty wasn't who I would have expected at all, although it happened in the same manner.

I'm still struggling to watch this after losing the GOAT in Rick Grimes, but can I just skip to this episode? The last thing I saw was the death of Jesus.

It sounds like this one was pretty good.

I finished it up last night and didn't disappoint. Rick, I think you could probably just skip to this last episode if you want. They did introduce a few characters between the death of Jesus and this episode but it shouldn't confuse you too much. As for the ending, there was definitely a bit of confusion in my mind how it all actually went down but the big reveal on the hill was pretty well done. Much like the comics, and the CGI was decent in my mind. Didn't get to see any previews for the finale but I'll definitely be checking it out.

wow, they definitely killed off some people I didn't expect before the ep started.

**********************************************

SPOILERS:

Can't believe they killed off alt-Carl, Tara or Enid. Crazy. Ezekiel and Rosita managed to avoid the hangman. I guess all of Carl's storylines are done so they don't need the kid anymore. Who is going to run Hilltop now? Jesus and Tara were in charge over there.

I'm assuming we'll get badass Carol again which should be sweet.

I just hope they let Negan be the one who kills Alpha like in the comics. I liked that angle.

I think that will be the mid-season finale next season.

The finale next week should see Negan go to the Whisperers.

What a pointless finale. Literally nothing happened. Last weeks episode should have been the finale.

But hey, The Whisperers are apparently snowbirds.

I'm sure people here can provide examples, but that seemed like the worst season finale ever. Could have opened next season with 60 seconds about the kingdom being abandoned and been the same.

It was fine but there is no time frame for how much time elapsed between the end of last episode and the start of this one, and how much time passed during the episode.

The way it all played out, it seems like the Whisperers all headed south for the winter and they were coming back at the start of spring.

Overall I enjoyed the season more than I have any of the last few.

I guess not a single member of the cast or production team has ever lived in cold weather as they walk around in a snow storm with open coats

I spent a few years in that part of the country. Never once saw a snowfall over a couple of inches. Just sayin

Here is some literary critique for you:

Interesting that they should end the season paraphrasing Shakespeare with “the winter of our discontent”. It is my opinion that the woman playing alpha is doing a Richard iii imitation as the hunchbacked evil king. Whenever she addresses anyone she hunches over and looks at them sideways

I just don’t buy a short, fat, old woman as the alpha of any group that has to be in perpetual motion but I do like the way she acts

What an amazing finale. The drama of trying to survive a treacherous Virginia snow storm had me on the edge of my seat.

Negan/Judith are now officially the only two people worth a damn on this show anymore.

I feel that the freezing and snow was used as an exploration of the fan question that has existed for a long time regarding whether the zombies could survive in the northern climates. Unfortunately, they bumbled the answer in extraordinary fashion. Standing zombies froze solid while ones lying on the ground buried under snow retained animation. I suppose you could say that those that were buried and on the ground maintained a temperature of about 32 degrees as if they were in an igloo and for purposes of the show zombies freeze at a lower temperature. The ones exposed to the wind and colder temps froze in place.

That was really a poor way of answering the question. If they freeze, they all freeze due to exposure.

and really, who cares if they would freeze or not... If we want to go all "real science" on this, the walkers wouldn't last 2 weeks in the summer once the flies/maggots got them.

I felt like the ep was a call out to Brooks' Zombie Apocalypse Survival Guide which suggested that people should move to cold climates because zombies would freeze during winter.
