probably the numbers show that having your best hitter bat with 2 outs and nobody on is a sub-optimal stratergy to start a game. I think LaRussa pioneered the trend with Pujols, backed up with moving the pitcher to the 8th spot.

Not the first time a team has mistakenly thought it was good offensively after a series in texas

That Braves Shortstop is a fucking idiot. There was absolutely nothing wrong with that slide. I hope he looks at the replay later tonight and realizes he's a dumb fuck.

About 5'11".

RAW is terrible as usual but it seems like it's the superior viewing selection tonight.

If the Cubs start 10-20 Theo will fire Joe's ass and hire this Joe. Theo wants to do it. He hates Maddon.

I don't think Theo likes Girardi either. He wants someone who will execute what the analytics tells them to execute. It's going to be Ross unless he doesn't want the job.

Ross already turned down a bench coach job.

Plus to hire Giraridi it's gonna be at least 7 million a year. And Theo doesn't want to go to Ricketts and ask for that after all the wasted money on Heyward and Yu. It's because of those fuck ups they couldn't get Harper.

You can get Ross for 2 million per year. Rickets would be cool with that.

Bad Brad Brach somehow got out of that inning without giving up a run. Make him the closer.

You can probably get Lou Brown cheaper, and a set of white walls.

There are many great first basemen in baseball. What sets Anthony Rizzo apart is his superior defense.

It's almost a certainty that the "Best Manager In Baseball" won't last the whole year. I guess the Cub fans will have to be satisfied with the "Second Best Manager In Baseball" after Maddon is fired.

Even the ordered to kiss Joe's ass score is turning on him.

Maybe they just need a petting zoo or the disco ball back from Nagy? Wasn't sure either if Theo is allowing the bullpen dance this year? Anyone know?

I blame Theo and Ricketts for this mess. Joe will go to his next team and continue to win 90+ games and we will still be stuck with Heyward, Chatwood, Edwards and Darvish.

Well, at least one Cub fan doesn't think Maddon got dumber over the past five years.

Joe might not make it to the home opener at this rate. Six errors, what the hell.

It wont be Girardi or any other name guy that takes over. It'll be Loretta or some guy who will happily walk Theo and Jed's lineup card up to the umpire and follow their instructions on everything.

Agreed. And, IMO, its why Grampa Ross turned them down. Him being a catcher and an "old school" guy, he probably has some of his own ideas on how to manage the team and the clubhouse and doesn't just want to be a gopher for Theo.

What are the rules now on electronic communication to the dugout? How soon will front offices be able to legally field-manage via iPad?

I think I had read MLB will be experimenting with allowing the pitcher and catcher to communicate via an Apple Watch to avoid sign stealing (that would be quite the sight), but I can see that quickly turning into a manager or Jed/Theo's nerds sending in signs to both pitcher and catcher.

Sounds terrible, thanks.

I can get behind technology supplementing the umpires on ball/strike calls, but having the catcher call the game via text message is unbecoming.

It isn't just you but other teams being handled like this the brass would be bbq'd.
