I wonder why virtually no other fast food place has followed McDonald's lead on that. Soda is by far the largest markup in all of fast food, yet McDonald's seems to believe it's in their best interest to charge essentially half of what others do.

I would guess it's the same reason Walmart has the lowest prices. They have enough market share to do it.

Yeah, you just eat it. You eat it in refillls and cleaning that disgusting thing anyway. We do bottles and cans, I'd rather just give somebody a free second can of pop that deal with all the detritus.

I gotta have fountain drinks with lots of ice. I HATE soda/pop sans ice.

Portillo's has to be THE most overrated chain in Chicago.

The cake is massively overrated but their regular food is great.

Like what? I've had their chicken sandwich.. decent, beef and sausage was decent too. Nothing spectacular.

Nothing like Baracco's ...right Big Boy

Last trip I did not hate Buona. Also Pops used to be good but haven’t had in years. The Taylor street stuff was good.

Guy I grew up with on SW side has a place called Tony’s. Worth the effort every single time.

I guess you don't like the Coke Freestyle machine at Wendy's.

Boyd’s right. If you’re drinking soda without alcohol in it you’re doing it wrong. That’s what water, iced tea, and lemonade are there for.

As a person that has never wanted to burn crosses or lynch anyone, I don't enjoy iced tea.

Fountain pop is outstanding, and anyone who doesn't think so should be retroactively aborted.

I have stopped for the most part. Coffee and water now. Maybe an occasional juice box.

I spent the occasional college hungover morning drinking a Coca-Cola in Atlanta that could easily strip paint. And I appreciated that.

Don’t ever take for granted how blessed you people are to have multiple options for Italian beef in your area.

When we come back to IL Portillo’s is enough for us because it is not on a single menu up here.

Coke is kind of a cure-all for whatever ails you. Imagine how awesome it would be it still had actual cocaine in it.

Sprite out of a bottle when hung over...gotta be really cold, though.

I was never a fountain pop fan...I would suck it up when at a fast food place...no refills and I usually wouldn't even fill it up...just enough to get through, but as a whole, since I quit drinking pop full time about a year ago, yeah, everyplace I go has iced tea. Unsweet. Black...just like my coffee.

And those Coke Freestyle machines are the absolute worst...some of the residual flavors hanging out...disgusting.

I haven't lived near a Buona in many years. If you go back to 1997-2000 when I lived in Roselle / Addison area....the Buona in Glendale Heights was phenominal....way better than Portillo's.

If Buona has declined...I have no defense.

I actually haven't been to one in a couple years since Johnnies is just down the street and my personal favorite. Combo juicy hot.

I'm getting the vibe that this place may be a very poorly monitored franchise. The one over by me is right by corporate HQ so they may keep it in line.
