It feels as if they need to be changed 2 or 3 times a year. Wipers at the auto parts store are around $25 and $8 to $15 at Walmart. Are the Walmart ones just junk or do the expensive ones last longer? Has anyone else had a similar experience with wipers?

I like a clean windshield. Decent wipers last about 6 months, depending on whether you car is kept in a garage at home and at work.

That said, the best deal I’ve found is Costco—about $5 for each blade. They change brands, but if you replace every 6 months, the brand makes no difference.

I’ve bought “premium” blades, but they don’t seem to last any longer than cheap ones.

Some are more anal about their wipers than others. It isn't a binary answer when and how often to change.

I have found cleaning them with Rain X works very well. Rubbing Alcohol will dry the rubber out.

I just wait til one of the neighbors gets new blades and then do a 3 AM blade-swap with my old blades for their fresh set.

They streak after a few months because they're dirty. Wipe clean with alcohol. They streak after years because they wear out.

i do the rainx weather beaters. they last about a year and are 10 bucks. i've tried all the crazy expensive ones and always are left feeling gypped.
