Young Snow.

Jon narrates growing up at Winterfell back in the day and how it shaped him as an adult.

It’s Always Sunny in King’s Landing. The Lannister clan owns a bar and runs into shenanigans.

Medieval Family.

Jaime marries Bronn and adopts Arya. Dani sports tight hip hugger jeans and speaks with a Columbian accent raising pudgy Samwell. Jon Snow becomes the leading realtor in all of Westeros selling fixer uppers to the Night King.

You know what would be funny?

If the Night's King takes the throne, morphs back into a human and winter goes away.

White Walker, Westeros Ranger.

Superman wears Night King pajamas.

(Yeah - I know, not a sitcom... but how could I resist? "Walker" is right there. Low hanging fruit.)

The one thing that I have never really got my mind around in this show is Bran and what his role is going to be in the resolution of the WAR. What the Three Eyed Raven said before he croaked that he would FLY sent me to a belief that somehow he would pilot a dragon and maybe bring down the White Walker King but I don't know. A late idea would be the somehow Samwell Tarley would crack the puzzle of how to kill the white Walkers and that he and Bran would perhaps reverse the fate of the slain dragon?

How the hell did they even get the dragon out of the bottom of the lake, that thing should have crashed onto the shoreline.

Somewhere they found some huge chains, hooked up the beast and pulled it out.

Anybody catch this today? Interesting life this guy has lived. However, I don't think he's going to live a very long time at the pace and lifestyle he has chosen.

Cersai was pregnant, so her kid has gotta be about 3 and Arya is probably 18

Weak ass ending imo. I get that they had to catch everyone up to speed but this was a big letdown imo.

Great episode.

Not taking their time and letting things hang. Just getting right to it.

Agreed. Really enjoyed it.

I had forgotten how many unresolved dynamics needed to be dealt with. Bran "waiting for an old friend" did not click at all and I was waiting for most of the episode for Jamie to show up.

Sam asking Jon if Dany "would do the same" was great as well.

Great start.

Plus it was almost a shot-for-shot recreation of the very first episode. From the kid (Bran) climbing to see the Royal company come to Winterfell - the presentation of the King (Dany) with Arya missing - a scene in the crypt with two old friends - Bronn getting called out of a brothel (Tyrion) - the prologue scene again with the kid on the wall - and Bran and Jamie at the end. And I'm sure I'm forgetting a few more.

Wish I felt the same way. I’ll watch it again tomorrow but my initial reaction is it was one of the very worst episodes of the series. Outside of Sam telling Kon his heritage I didn’t like any part of it. Nothing happened.

I thought it paid off years of character development and story and did so in a very efficient and entertaining way.

You can't bring all these characters together after years and years and just have them all nod and say "let's go kick some ass".

Honestly, telling Jon he's the King of the World was probably a bit too efficient but "let's go kick some ass".

Nah man. Was a great reintroduction to the characters, even if I had no idea why they fuck they were where they were.

It was honestly boring as fuck. Maybe rewatching the series made it that way since I didn’t need a reintroduction but this episode sucked hard. I hope I feel differently on a rewatch tomorrow night but I don’t think I will.

Massively disappointed

So Cersi's plan for the white walker invasion is to chill out on an island with a state fair caliber rocker whilst pretending to be preg with his baby? Can't say I'd come up with a better idea.

I think FF is going too far here. Like others have said you had to have this kind of episode to set the scene for this year and close loops from last year. A slow episode like this is inevitable.

One thing I didn't like is the forced nature of Sam learning that D executed his dad and brother. Then immediately after he was tasked with informing Snow that Snow was.the true heir, which is something Sam now has a personal interest in advancing given what he knows about how his family died. Felt too forced and obvious.

The dragon ride as also puzzling. I felt it was a waste of time at first but then there are all these theories on the net about how that ride carried deep symbolic meaning. If that's the case then all right I guess. But if those theories are off then yeah that scene was a giant waste of time.

The only letdown for us was that we were snuggled in and prepared for about another 30 minutes of show...otherwise, pretty solid. The scene with Sam was odd. Shouldn't D have delivered the "bad" news along with the happy ending of "Congratulations, you are now Lord of Horn Hill!"?

I can't say it was boring, I really would of liked to see some fighting. I would of loved to see more of the Night's king and his army.
