Yes, that far off, bumblefuck of an area known as 'right next to one of the busiest airports in the world.'

Just saying...it's just a hot dog, and not in an area I have a need to go to regularly...hence, out of my way, smartass.

You have an app that tracks the hundreds of different beers that you've had over the years, and you've posted thousands of times about beer on this forum. You also have discussed different pizza's in depth. It's just pizza. Crust, marinara and cheese. How much can it differ, one to another?

"It's just" arguments seem very pointless.

Wrong.

Beer and pizza are FAR DIFFERENT than put tube meat in bread.

I don't find their beef to be particularly good. My recollection is its just boring and bland.

I've said this before. My partner considers himself an Italian beef expert and he calls Portillo's "baseline beef". Anything better is good and anything worse is bad.

I think he likes Al's, Johnnie's, and the beef-and-a-half from Buona.

that argument doesn't hold up if 90% of the hot dog places are using the exact same Vienna Beef hot dog. Not really much of a difference from hot dog to hot dog as opposed to pizza to pizza.

And the 'hot dog' meat is only one ingredient in the larger hot dog sandwich.

Nah they're right. If you're trying to argue that hot dog varies as much as pizza and beer you're gonna lose that argument quickly.

I don't expect or begrudge Boyd or anybody else not driving 50 miles to try a Vienna hot dog at a place I like. If your not in the area or it's not something you have a fondness or nostalgia for, who gives a shit?

Saying a douchey, millennial phrase like "hot dog sandwich" won't help the cause, either.

"Hot dog meal" "Hot dog entree" Whatever you want to refer to the entirety of the meal as to differentiate it between the meat itself.

Yeah, I feel comfortable that I'm as right as ever, considering the way something as insignificant as phrasing was focused on so quickly.

Maybe I should bow out and respect the opinions of those that look to have eaten thousands more hot dogs than I have.

No, there's 4 toppings: mustard, relish, sport peppers, and onions. It's not a "Chicago Style" hot dog at all.

I don't believe they do unless it's a new development. And their fries are about as good as French fries get.

Gene and Jude's uses Vienna Beef, but they definitely seem different than the ones you buy at the grocery store.

I think I had read that Charlie Trotter used to make regular trips to Gene and Jude's. You know they're good if a guy that pretentious endorsed them.

I'm with IMU on this one. Hot dogs are definitely not all the same. Even if they use Vienna there are various types and sizes of Vienna dogs. Portillo's is one of the few places that uses a natural casing. Then there are places like Byron's that add extra toppings.

It's not that easy to find a good hot dog these days. I can't think of many near my house. I guess Wolfy's is the closest place. My office is near your house, shakes. Where do you go for a dog? J's Corner isn't bad I guess.

No, you can bow out because evidently you believe that something as simple as a hotdog (not further superlatives needed) can actually be compared to the differences between the millions of beers and pizzas being made daily. That's not to say that "ALL HOTDOGS ARE THE SAME?!???", but the differences in dogs pale in comparison to the amount of pizza and beer out there.
