I don't really bet on sports. I can't see betting more than $100 ever without some knowledge of an edge.

I bet $8000 into a horse race once. The motherfucker finished fourth. The horse I bet was Shannon Swift with Steve Bauder driving. Bretsbac and Tim Wilson Jr. won the race.

Well that was just like $100 for you.

Did you bet the horse to show?

$75 on the Patriots vs.the Rams in their first SB matchup.

I probably haven't bet on a game in over 15 years.

Win and place and the place bet was probably ill-advised, but I wasn't as sophisticated a gambler as I am now. This was back in the pre-simulcast era when you could dump 5 grand into a harness win pool without absolutely destroying the odds.

Won 35k in two days playing poker. Blew it all in one week on the bangtails at Hialeah.

Large single wagers make for memorable losses: backed Messi and Argentina as 10 to 1 underdogs in the 2014 World Cup final. Figured if Argentina scored first they'd four corners their way to a win. Messi duffed penalty kick quality chances and it looked like the match was destined to be decided by kicks before some German sub scored in extra time to give the krauts a 1-0 win. Ditto for New Zealand in the 2015 Cricket World Cup. Yeah, the Final was against Australia in Australia; but the Aussies hadn't really beaten anyone all that great on their way to the Final while the Kiwis took down the favored South Africans twice. Australia of course won.

CWC 2019 runs May 30th - July 14th . England/Wales host.

Daily stock market gyrations don't phase me one bit but a double-digit wager makes me sweat bullets.

Over / Under on by when that guy blows his $1.2 mil?

Maybe a bit more than 700k left after federal and state taxes?

I'm thinking of place a "very nice" bet on whomever the favorite will be in the Kentucky Derby, which is likely Omaha Beach.

For those unaware, the favorite has won the Derby 6 years in a row, also 6 years since they've gone to a points system for entrants.

I can't remember the exact odds, but I bet $500 on the Game 5 of the WS when the Cubs were down 3-1, and then rolled the winnings into Game 6, and then Game 7. I think I won around $3k.

I've bet a couple thousand on blackjack, though only when it's been house money after a winning streak.
