Not that Bruce Wolf is ever going to be given another radio job again, but I guess the bit is dead.

Eh, just sit back from the mic a bit, add some reverb, and do the character coming to you from 'the great beyond'.

Chet Chit Chat was based on Chuck Swirsky, not Chet Coppock.

It's based on both, but I digress...the Chet Chit Chat bit should not be dead, just as Will Ferrell, Ryan Dempster, Chip Carray and others still do
Harry Carray impersonations, let his memory live on in the form of Chet Chit Chat!

It's an amalgamation of the two

I'll take your word for it, but I never heard any Coppock in it.

I think the voice was Swirsky and the style was Coppock.

I thought the "lobotomy line on sports" wording was a parody of something chet was doing at the time.

also the repetitive "we're talking ___, we're talking ___" leading up to some overly grand proclamation was chet.

also, the long narratives without coming up for breath

I'm pretty sure that's all Swirsky. I think he used to say, "...And that's the bottom line."

No, I think that was Steve Austin.

Correct, although the phrase (and thus the parody) was “this is Chuck Swirsky with the bottom line on sports”. This line followed his seemingly endless intro music “Fire on High” by ELO on Sunday nights. And for the record, Swirsk preceded Coppock in the sports talk format. Coppock was more widely known as he expanded it to 5 nights per week.

Steve, Garry, and Bruce Wolf, now that's a legendary combo.

Yeah, Swirsky was on when I was in high school, '78 or '79.
