I don't understand where you're coming from on this. The place we are staying has a water park onsite. But yes - one of the best parts of fishing is fishing in different locations, and Florida has monstrous bass in addition to species that are not found in Illinois. We are going for 7 days, and there's no way in hell I'm spending every single day at a theme park.

Why wouldn't you go for all 7 days? Disney World is massive. We just went for 7 days, went to the parks every day and still didn't come close to seeing everything we wanted and we didn't do either of the Disney water parks either. Also, it's not that much more expensive to buy a 7 day pass than it is a 5 day pass.

It really doesn't have anything to do with fishing. I wouldn't recommend golfing in Orlando or going to see a movie or going to an NBA game either. Go for the theme parks.

5 or 7, it's still really expensive and being in the park is just going to cost more.

Only you know what you and your kids love to do together. Do what you want.
Mike, do you think I'm ordering leash to change his plans?

Why even go to the parks? Just fish every day.

If you're staying at Disney for 5 or more days, a "pool day" or some other sort of rest day is wise to build into the schedule. You could spend 6 or 7 days at Disney World, never step foot into a park, and still have an incredibly fun and jam packed vacation.

Even if Orlando isn't a "world class" fishing destination in and of itself, you are only about an hour's drive to the Gulf or the Atlantic.

This sounds like a better option than going to the parks.

The hardest part for us was getting back to the park the second time for the fireworks/light shows. I think instead of a rest day you just do one day where you get there at like 3 or 4pm.

No. I just find it odd anyone would have the take as strong as you have regarding doing something other than a park/attraction. As I saw someone posted after you wrote this even a simple pool day out of 5 or 7 can be wonderful family time down there.

I went to Disney once for a work conference and stayed onsite, and after one of the social outings for the conference, I could hear two people banging in the room next to me. That's the magic of Disney.

How much did the Disney corporation bill you for that magical, authentic experience?

When you go to Orlando spend the most time you can doing by far the best reason to go to Orlando. Why is that take odd?

It is a thread asking for advice. That was mine.

I thought you gave excellent detailed timely advice. Myself I probably just would have left out this part. We don't know for instance that Leash doesn't take his daughter large mouth bass fishing every week while chasing off coyotes. The big bass in central Florida and challenge of chasing off alligators can be a particular personal memory builder for them.

Boilermaker Rick wrote:

I've been to Disneyland in CA....I've done Universal Studios in Orlando, but I have never, ever been to Disney World.

some day....I' sure I'll have Grandchildren and get stuck going to Disney World, but if I have any say in the matter....I'm staying the fuck away.

Disney World is all yours....keep it.

Agreed, they're insane.

World Showcase is tougher for a smaller kid, but Epcot is still a great park. Illuminations is second to none in terms of fireworks as well.
To say that the park is "dated" or "run down" is inaccurate and stupid.

Epcot is awesome but I wouldn't choose that park if i had limited time and little kids. I didnt find it to be run down at all, it was clean and beautiful and the World Showcase is a great way to cap off a long day. Illuminations is a phenomenal show, but it is being discontinued this year, which is sad. It really is a great show to watch from any angle around World Showcase.

Why leave it off? People can disagree but I think kids will enjoy Disney much more than big bass in central Florida.

At least he isn't planning on a trip to Olive Garden.

Took the kids a few years ago. A 10,7 and 4 year old. The 7 and 4 year old were burned out after 3 days. The 10 year old was done after 5. The two 30 somethings were burnt out after 2. We did take a day off in the middle and went to crystal river in one of those manatee tours.

Saying anything at Disney is run-down is a ridiculous statement. They are always updating.

It's fucking expensive to go to Disney. So, we get 5 day passes but will stay 7 nights. Maybe a water park, pool day, Disney Springs.

Oh, and you can golf on property. Early bird special. $65 for 9 holes with clubs, a breakfast sammich, and two drinks. Done that thrice.

Fishing in Kissimmee is cool. I did that once with my Dad many moons ago.

If you go to Disney and are unable to find something fun to do everyday, then I don't know what to tell you.

I will admit, that I am a bit of a nut when it comes to that place. Blame my parents and Star Wars.

I feel about Disney the same way I do about the new cruise line trends. Disney wants you captive and they want every one of your dollars you are willing to part with. They do a really terrific job at all of it. All the major cruises now have their "private" part of Haiti or some other depressed place they stop at for fun and frolicking. So much so that you did not even realize they got all the money for food, drink and excursions there.

Maybe I am just stubborn but I like top spread my money around a bit more the way I at least feel I control anyway.

Since Disney’s already so expensive, Leash should just hire some dudes dressed as Mickey and Minnie to come fish with them.

We went to Disney World last year. I really didn't like it. The people we were with love the place and go there 4-5 times a year. Not for me. Long lines, very few good rides, mediocre and expensive food. It was a waste of time and money. I guess if you have little children it is good. We were there about 25+ years ago with our kids and it was pretty fun but going there as an adult is pretty boring.

Give me roller coasters and action events. Not scripted bullshit. Just as an aside...… I would put the %age of minorities in the crowd probably about 5% at most. I am not saying that Disney is racist but they appear to me to cater to white folks.
