Milwaukee is a cool time warp city.

There are MANY terrific lakes, nice bike/hiking trails, and charming hamlets in Wisconsin.

Underrated state.

I don't know how anyone could dislike Wisconsin. It's paradise up there, like up by Minnoqua and on Lake Tomahawk. The lakes are clean and the air is fresh, unlike the polluted air we're forced to breathe in Illinois. At night, you can actually see the stars overhead. The people are a lot friendlier and are more genuine. They like their water sports and fishing. Everyone has a long-gun.

They appreciate a camp fire and driving with a roadie (above Madison).

You are right; none of that is true about Illinois. I will admit to having seen Betelgeuse once in Illinois, but that was only because it was in a book with pitchers and when I was looking at the book with pitchers, I was standing in Illinois. However, the rest, as they say up in Eau Claire, is as true as a shrew.

You should have no trouble seeing Betelgeuse anywhere in Illinois.

Milwaukee is a kick-ass city. I'd take a night out there than Chicago any time.

For the summer season there might not be a better place to be in the entire country than Wisconsin. When you are there it just feels like vacation.

Southwest Michiga is very similar, but them being in Eastern Time makes it a better place. It's dusk until almost 10 p.m. there in June.
