A woman that my wife works with is like this. She has been happily married for a long time, but their relationship is "open". And it's not some dark secret they hide. Of the various dating sites I have been on, women who mention either polyamory or "ethical non-monogamy" seems most prevalent on OkCupid. It seems especially sketchy when practiced by people who have young children because while mom thinks her kids think "Uncle Ricky" is just a friend, they know something...odd is going on.

There is also a 70/30 chance that if one of these women have a picture of their husband in one of their profile pics he has one or all of the following: A) goatee, B) ponytail, or C) jean shorts.

Sometimes their profiles are kind of amusing to read, but often they are depressing or make you think "yech..."

There was a young couple who ran a coffee shop at Irving and Austin, by our restaurant a couple years ago. They were high school sweethearts from Taft. They closed the shop and moved to Michigan and ended up in one of these situations. He killed her (his wife/girlfriend, mother of his child,) came back here and reported her missing. Only after people started looking for her did one of these weird rambling posts like the one above surface (on reddit, of course.) I don't remember their last name, but it was Regulus Coffee Shop in Chicago if you care to look it up.
