Cliff notes-you have to bring in a fuck ton of documentation by October of next year in order to get a license with a stamp to Fly and if you just renewed a few months ago, when Illinois wasn't up to compliance you have to pay again. Other states have been in compliance for a while now, while Illinois has been doing the bare minimum.

How does this piece of shit keep getting re-elected?

Hmmm. This seems like its a Federal regulation, but yeah Illinois should have been doing more to prep people for this. And of course its going to be more money

Read my post moron, I know the requirements are out of Illinois hands, but Illinois has been doing the bare minimum in terms of Federal ID compliance when pretty much every other state is already up to speed. Now people that just renewed have to go back AGAIN, and pay AGAIN because of Illinois' incompetence of getting up to standards.

You can go drive off a cliff with Favre and 312. Bye.

Also, Bob forgets to mention, that if you have a current US Passport, then you can use that to fly and not worry about this new DL for now.

That's true but it also misses the point...there is no excuse for Illinois to be one of the last states in compliance here.

You literally have to spend an hour getting all these docs together, then you have to haul your ass to the understaffed DMV AGAIN, wait god knows how long that is, drop another $30-50 again, even if you just renewed two months ago. I get the doc requirements are out of Illinois hands, but they should have been up to speed much faster so people could have knocked it out then.

Hardly a mild inconvenience.

Couldn't be any more wrong.

Of all the IL government services, the DMV is pretty efficient.

I get the point of the message board is to overreact to every little thing in order to provide minor entertainment so I appreciate the fact you're acting like the Jesse White Tumblers ran a train on you in order to manufacture some anger. Good work.

At the very least, if you already renewed in the past year you shouldn't have to pay again. It is funny to sit back and watch people defend State of Illinois Government Employees though.

I am not. However, I am a person who has lost their wallet and bought a new out-of-state car within the past 5 months. So I've been a recent frequent customer of the DMV.

It's also funny to see people become livid about the approximately 3,523rd worst thing about Illinois

The DMV helped Kirkwood get his wallet back and buy a car. #one of the good ones

They buy drinks while waiting in line? That would be mind blowing goodness.

Title of the thread might be a little strong, given it's about paperwork or something. Are you sending the The Hawk signal out?

Bob isn't completely nuts.

Charging people who just renewed in the first 3 months of the year another fee for Real ID isn't cool.

OK, I've been in touch with The Hawk. He's unable to be here, he is on the VA golf course or something. He is totally on board with you calling the Illinois Secretary of State a cu.nt. Then there's a bunch of notes that don't really apply or make sense. Then he implores that you find a way to work in a "Jesse White Stumblers" pun.

Wait till he finds out the only location offering the Real Id is the Chinatown DMV.

Was there an epidemic of people using fake ids to fly? That seems like a lot of work.

Cliff notes-you have to bring in a fuck ton of documentation by October of next year in order to get a license with a stamp to Fly and if you just renewed a few months ago, when Illinois wasn't up to compliance you have to pay again. How does this piece of shit keep getting re-elected?

About as often as you feel discombobulated.
