I'm cool with Arya taking him out but her just flying out of nowhere was kind of silly. I would have liked to see her pull some face-off shit like appear to NK as a walker or even Bran.

Good point. That is a possibility.

I would actually be happy with that. I've always enjoyed the other characters and how they react to the Night King but I haven't ever considered him anything more than a metaphor of impending doom/death. I never thought he had any real reason or motive to do anything besides the low level thinking of "kill everyone". The only real interesting thing he ever seemingly did was to have that weird deal where he was taking newborn boys from the guy on the other side of the wall. Even when he got the ice dragon, I imagine his internal dialogue was something like "Dragon died. Get chains. Pull out dragon. Make it an ice dragon. Now I have an ice dragon. Shoot wall with ice".

I will say the point about him being immune to fire is interesting, but I also have to question why Jon Snow was scared of fire at all if that is a family thing.

At the end, the NIGHT KING turned into a cocky pussy. That smirk on his face and the strut toward Brann was his undoing. Leaving his newly risen bunch of killed to kill off Jon Snow was stupid. He didn't account for little bad ass, Arya getting her pep talk from the Red Witch. I think that Brann knew that Arya was coming to kill him off. That was when his eyes changed. He led the NK to him and knew that Theon was going to add to his being distracted. I also think that the NK was puzzled when Brann showed no fear whatsoever. Brann knew, I think that Arya was their only chance of defeating the WWs by killing off the NK.

I would guess that he never had a real chance to learn much about the Targaryans and also that maybe Dany was the only one immune to fire. Her brother wasn't, was he?

Her brother succombed to molten gold. Were he fire proof, that should have felt like a hot shower.

Yes, while wearing Meera Reed's face.

I don't know, but I'll be pissed if I watched 8 seasons of this shit with over a third of it dedicated to a stupid zombie apocalypse with no more payoff than what we've gotten so far.

For the first 4-5 seasons I hated the nights watch, free folk and white walker part.

Eventually I grew to like the show so much I took an interest in that stuff just because of the connection to the good parts of the show.

It was always bad. I tried to watch the pilot once and after that stupid opening scene I turned it off and didn't watch again for a while.

I know its always been part of GRRMs stuff but the whole white walker storyline always felt like a slapped on after part to a great story.

I mean remove the night king and the white walkers and what do you have?

Still a great story. Maybe one less season.

I believe WZ originally said this here but the great story ended with the red wedding. That was perfect.

Everything after has been directionless

The politicking and backstabbing at King's Landing with Cersei, the Tyrell's and Faith Militant was also great. People forget that.

You miss out on the emergence of the Jon Snow character. Just because they botched the landing on story arc doesn't mean it was totally without merit.

Yeah but Jon Snow shouldn't go fishing at Disney World.

He must have asked for your sage advise first. Hopefully you told him about blackface, and Gen. Lee's love for Virginia.

This has probably been done before but what is peak GOT to you?

For me it's small council meetings with Cersei, Tywin, Joffrey, Tyrion, Varys, and Littlefinger. They weren't always together but some combo of them is what I loved. Other stuff is Jamie's redemption arc, Jon's ascension to head of the night's watch and his bromance with Sam, Arya hanging out with the Hound, the early Stark drama before they got wiped out (and the questions they sparked about the practicality of honesty and integrity in a dishonest world), Tyrion advising Dany, Lady Oleanna and her wit, and a few other periods I'm sure I'm forgetting.

Hardhome was the best episode and Tommen jumping out the window was probably my favorite moment. He managed to somehow be the weakest character in a series featuring Ramsay Bolton.

Dany is an awful actress, she looks ridiculous with those big brown brows and white wig.

Whoever wrote this tripe probably lists Sex and the City as he or she's favorite program. Wonder what the "author" has ever penned in their lifetime?

I don't know...seems to me that Tommen was deliberately portrayed as weak. Depends on what you mean by weak. I thought he did weak and indecisive well. He was the perfect target for the Tyrells to sink their claws in to rule the kingdom by proxy.

As for Ramsey, I also disagree but I'd have to know more about what you mean. Some of the writing was over the top, but I thought he delivered the sadism quite well. He was genuinely an evil character and I presume many felt terrified by his onscreen presence.

If there was any acting that I didn't feel that enamored with it is Dany. Some of her scenes fall flat and I don't feel like she's selling her emotions well. I guess I agree with 312 player here. Same thing with Jon Snow from time to time. I felt Robb Stark had more presence. He seems like a good actor. My favorite is Jamie - he has so much range and depth. Here's how I'd rank the actors:

Character actors - not a lot of range or depth because their characters aren't necessarily multidimensional, but they do what they're supposed to do (one or two emotions) quite well:

Joffrey
Brienne
The Hound
Bronn
Barristan Selmy

Main actors - these guys have presence and can carry a scene effortlessly:

Jamie
Cersei
Tywin
Tyrion
Sansa
Jon

Probably missing a lot

Peak GoT for me was intrigue and all the machinations up to and through the War of Five Kings. Cersei was still someone who always thought she was more clever than she actually was, Tyrion and Varys were smart and were playing everyone, and the Starks were terrible military strategists.

I guess one of those is still happening

Peak GoT was the play of Ned's beheading or the 5 dwarf kings at Joffrey's wedding.

I didn’t really have a good idea for the best way to vanquish him but I know that there have been clues that Arya was meant to do some serious shit with that knife Bran gave her.

Tommen and Ramsay were lame ass two dimensional characters that were weak as hell writing wise. They are the type of characters that don't belong anywhere near a "prestige" show.

Last episode had the second lowest rating of any in the history of the series on Rotten Tomatoes:

No, it was Arya in Bravos seeing a play (same play?) where the Starks were portrayed as the bad guys. Isn't that when she decided to go back home and take care of business?
