Buy a subscription to Hulu and buy HBO through it.

Great episode. That is Game of Thrones.

Don't understand what Jamie is doing though.

as this season continues, characters (other than Sansa) continue to act like complete and total morons

I mean you think by now they would figure out how to use the dragons...

Yup. Each episode is like 4 though with how much happens.

Jamie is primed for some heroic, soul cleansing death.

Tormund will end up with Brienn after all...or not.

Tunnel Bear

Liked this one for the most part. Peeps, why didn't you like it?

Some issues I had is why more people other than Sansa didn't advise Dany to wait before invading King's Landing. She's got like five solidiers and two crippled dragons before one was put out of its misery. The standoff at the end didn't make sense either...Dany has no leverage. Cersei should just march on winterfell and do what the overhyped Night King failed to do.

Can't get a read on Jamie...did he just suffer a Cersei relapse after spending three seasons or whatever trying to redeem himself? If so that also makes no narrative sense.

The kidnapping and execution was corny. Almost like they hastily put something together to recreate the shock Ned's execution generated. But that only worked because the circumstances leading up to that event flowed logically from the premise of the story. This again seemed arbitrary.

I thought they finally did a good job furthering the wedge between Sansa and Dany. Before today didn't understand why Sansa was suspicious of Dany. I get the writers were trying to demonstrate that but within the context of the show I don't know why Sansa would be hesitant to embrace Dany, especially with Snow backing her and with Dany providing support to the war. Now the tension is clear even tho I still have a problem with its origin. Made for some good drama. Like 312 said before I don't think Emilia Clarke is doing a good job here with her performance.

A lot of the episode seemed like contrived bullshit.

Good:
The celebration. Enjoyed most of the celebration after the battle. The way people gathered round Jon, and the sideways glances from Dany, were great. Hound and Sansa was solid too. Gendry got a lordship and a castle and immediately tries to make an honest woman out of Arya. Funny. Tyrion, Jaimie, Brienne, and Pod. Funny stuff.

Arya and The Hound road show. Always enjoy those 2 together and now their off to kill some people.

The Bad:

Dany. If they follow through with a Mad Queen story I may change my mind, but for now it's annoying. She plays it smart by giving Storms End to Gendry, and making him loyal to her. Then she gets her nephew alone and is happy to make out with him and beg him to tell no one about his identity. Silly.

Brienne and Jaimie. Fine they got together. But their end was ridiculous. Brienne left in tears. Fuck that. That's how she was with Renly. She's seen the shit since then.

The ambush. Need a way to further weaken Dany so let's kill another dragon in an idiotic ambush. The dragons both fly above Dragonstone. Dany didn't see Euron and his 10 ships hiding? Then of course her entire fleet gets destroyed to further weaken her army. This most likely sets the stage for Yara Greyjoy to ride to the rescue next week.

Tyrion fucks up again. Doesn't see the ambush coming and continues to be outmaneuvered at every turn. If they would've killed him at the end, it almost would've made up for this. Almost.

Missandei. In all the chaos and rubble, Euron sweeps in and captures Missandei, all so Cersei can have her corny line about breaker of chains.

I don't know. I'll watch it again tonight and maybe I'll enjoy it more. But last night it was disappointing.

so far the even numbered episodes have been my favorite. that bodes well for the finale.

i thought the build-up of drama was well done, and the blowup of the "secret" was great. dany is already at her breaking point and they're definitely pointing this to her boiling into the "mad queen". but hopefully it won't be that predictable.

one thing that's really bugging me about this last season is how they won't release the title of the episode or a synopsis until after it airs. you try looking it up and all it says is "game of thrones season 8 episode 4". no other show gets that kind of treatment. at least release the info the day of airing. i think it's safe that you're not spoiling anything. it's just a stupid gimmick giving it cheap mystique. but it also makes it seem like the show deserves to be put above others.

i haven't had HBO for a while now so if that's how they do things it's just arrogant. then again they were the ones with the "it's not TV it's HBO" slogan.

It was odd to have what normally would be a half season or so of storylines begin and end during the last 15 minutes of this episode.

Bran must not care all that much about Danny seeing as he didn't tell anyone about the ambush.

I wouldn't mind if the Stark sisters turned out to be the villains in the end. They're probably too beloved for that to happen.

He says a lot of things. Don't think he's explicitly stated what his powers are.

I thought someone was going to point out at the party that he technically is the proper heir to Robert's kingship, so she should take her Lord offer and shove it.

Sansa seems to be a wiser leader than Dany but not seeing a heel turn for her yet. Dany wants to burn the city to the ground which undoes a lot of the coaching Varys and Tyrion provided. The obvious implication of that, along with her depleting forces, is a them setting up a sort of Romeo and Juliet kind of thing with Jon with the throne at stake. I can see Sansa also favoring Jon because she can manipulate him by taking advantage of his honesty, just like Cersei and LF did to Ned.
