Oh, absolutely Yes. I doubt the boys club will allow Cuban to buy the team, but I would love to see it. I believe that he would do whatever he could, to try to win and thats what I want in an owner. The Cubs have been pretty liberal with their spending in recent years, but the payroll would likely increase under Cuban and he might well make it even more desireable to play for the Cubs. After he took over the Mavericks, he made their locker room, the nicest in the NBA, got the best plane for the team, gave all the players a trip to Hawaii (which he got in a little trouble for, with the NBA for) and became an owner that the players loved. He probably got a bit too hands on and visable, perhaps even distracting. But I think he learned from his experiences in the NBA and he would be a very good to great owner for the Cubs(Ode to Silvy on that last comment).

Mark Cuban is listed as one of the richest Americans. He is #133 on Forbes richest 400. He sold Broadcast.com for 5.7 BILLION. He has since increased his worth, through his stakes in the entertainment business, including producing television and motion pictures, as well as his ownership of the Dallas Mavericks. He has more than sufficient liquid capital to purchase the Cubs by himself. He does not need to even bother getting an ownership group together. He can buy it and operate it with his own capital-if he is able to convince the conservative boys club that is MLB ownership, that he is someone they should approve.
