I agree and understand the process of things like naming a field after someone, they usually give big money and they get a gym, building or in this case a filed named after them.

Bebe and Mike took it too far and abused the process. It was never about what they can do for someone, it was what can they get out of it. Maybe they did give money for years to an organization without asking for recognition, but just like everything in Mike North's life, nothing is truly done to be nice. They wanted recognition with numerous "Man of the year" awards, Hall inductions, etc. all in a short span of time?

This stuff doesn't just happen. Someone is writing a nice bio and sending it out to organization after organization, which is akin to the phrase throwing shit against the wall and seeing what sticks. You decide who the wall is and who the shit is.

Oh, I thought you meant as a host. My answer to that is when he was claiming he knew more "black stuff" than blacks calling in, circa late Monsters (the quote being my doing, as in black history, black culture, what it means to be one, etc.) I didn't know why his producers and Jiggs didn't kill him on the air right then and there. Maybe that's THEIR jumping the shark...

Pappy became the knickname because he treated Jesse so well as a producer people thought he treated him like a son.

Instead of it being based on ego it is really based on selflessness.

I never knew the origins of "Pappy" and always assumed it's part of terminology in his mobster wannabe circle of pals.
