Alright so lets give a little history here.

when i was a sr in high school, my father took me to alaska. My uncle works for the dept of fish and game and is an odd guy but i thought he was awesome. We went to a restaurant for dinner one evening and my dad and I ordered food and my uncle said "coffee is all i need" and we were like ok. My dad was like you aren't going to eat? my uncle said, yeah later.

well after we had our food about 5 minutes some people a few tables over got up and left. my uncle proceeded to get up and go get their plates and bring them back to the table, cut off anything that may have directly touched their mouth and proceeded to eat 1/3rd of a prime rib and about half of a club sandwich and some fries.

i just was like...that. was. awesome.

my dad was like wtf are you doing? he said, its what i've always done. back in the day when he first was working in AK he got paid next to nothing and this is how he got by but even though he had worked his way up the ladder he still didn't like waste "they are going to throw away this perfectly good food!?" and quite frankly in AK, most people are kind of nuts so he probably isn't seen as a crazy person.

when i got back home i was a dishboy at a pizza place. what i began doing was keeping an empty pizza box on top of the ice maker and sliding seemingly untouched pizza slices that came back to me into the box and taking home a feast at the end of the night.

in college i would finish peoples food all the time. I did the restaurant thing a few times. mostly because i really didn't have a ton of money and it got a rise out of people.

my wife knew about this prior to any interest in me (my charm, wit and looks were too much to overcome despite these other quirks) but when we got engaged, my wife said that is over. and for her i have subsided my ways. (for the most part) occasionally i can't let something go.

I've definitely done that with pitchers of beer back in college. No one drank out of the pitcher so as far as I was concerned it was free beer.

we regularly take clients and potential clients to snooty steakhouses where we are in it 100 bucks a person minimum for dinner and i tell you what, it takes every fiber of my being in those places. watching people walk away from 1/4 of a 50 dollar ribeye or seeing half a ramekin of lobster mac and cheese is just almost too much to handle. I just half to order the largest cut and hope to God i'm full.

One of the morning radio hosts up here in Milwaukee, that goes on the air with Mac and Parkins occasionally, has told a story about this. He would grab wings off peoples plates at a bar and end up with a huge feast of free wings. He took it to an entirely unneccesary and disgusting level though. He was too embarrassed to just sit there and eat the wings so he would go to the shitter and clothes the door to a stall and chow down. I think he also said he would attempt to flush the bones. Mac should bring this up to him next time he calls in.

see that makes it worse because he feels shame. i just don't. I don't feel embarassed by it at all. something is off there.

in college we would go to a wing place and bar and it was quarter wings on sundays during football season. i would go order 20 and eat all afternoon. it didn't take long to realize that every woman who came with us would order way more wings than they could eat. so i began to order 8 and then just polish off all the uneaten ladies wings.

Roommate of mine in college worked at such a place. He and a co-worker would pull an hnd anytime a hot chick left her food behind. Don't believe they cut off the eaten parts. Justified it by surmising they would swap 'spit with that chick any day of the week. What's the big deal eating after her?'

yeah i totally see that.

I agree. And I happen to believe just about all of what he says, because you can't make this kind of stuff up.

a guy my dad knows opened a few buffets around the area. he said most are disgusting. its another level of justification I use.
