The bullpen is atrocious again this year. I don't even know about the back end because they haven't really gotten to it in critical situations very often. But I'm not excited about Herrera and Colome.

And anyway, they're not really trying to win this season anyway. If they were they would have spent a little money and gotten a real starter or two and a corner outfielder. I think we can imagine a couple starters and an outfielder (not Harper) and how this team would likely be a contender in the Central if they were on the team.

I don't like throwing seasons away. I criticized the Cubs for doing it. Now I'm criticizing the Sox. You may never get another year of Machado/Anderson like this one and it's wasted just like all the great Sale seasons were wasted.

Herrera and Colome are two of maybe 4-5 decent pitchers on the entire team. They have done their job. I don't like throwing seasons away either BTW. And I am on record clearly that it is their cheap assed owner that is the major problem on the team. In fact your post pretty much is a carbon copy of my opinion going into this season. As for Moncada and Anderson, they are All-star caliber players right now and that is not going to change barring injury. Their big weaknesses are starting pitching and the outfield and that is not going to improve much as long as Reinsdork is in charge and Renteria is their manager. Both are the worst in all of baseball in their respective roles.

I find the wailing and gnashing of teeth regarding Navarez to be ridiculous. The guy is a one dimensional player. A good hitter for a catcher but certainly not a difference maker offensively. And he is a TERRIBLE defensive catcher. He has a very weak arm and can't throw anyone out. Over-all, I'd give him a C rating as a catcher. That is not anyone to waste time agonizing over. When July comes, bring the kid in 3A up, shit can Castillo and let McCann and the kid handle the catching this year and down the road.

Herrera may be used up. Hit a pretty sharp decline in 2017 and he's got a 5.25 ERA so far this year.

I agree. I am very surprised that they are not a shitty as I thought they would be. I know that is faint praise but after the last couple of years anything positive is a plus. I really like their infield and McCann at catcher. The outfield is another matter but I will enjoy watching Jimenez when he gets back. THe pitching, going forward, is really a shame and that is on Reinny entirely. Fuck him and the people that he hires.

Dylan Covey should never again be in a major league roster.

I had written off Tilson, but I'm starting to warm back up to him a bit.

Delmonico is likely back at AAA once Eloy returns.

Nice line-up by the worst manager in all of major league baseball. When your 4-5-6 hitters are hitting a collective .180 or so pull the fucking plug on the asshole making the line-up card. I hate this fucking Cub reject. When the fucking "meat of the line-up" sucks this much, the asshole making up the line-up doesn't know shit about what he is doing. And it is not like these guys at those line-up spots have any great gift defensively either.

Renteria SUCKS. REINNY SUCKS. The entire management of the White Sox SUCKS. That is all. Have a great evening.

Last week Chris Sale said that Ricky " has a great baseball mind". He saw him up close in his last year with Los Blancos. "LOL, get fucked" is the translation of what he said. he still has a hate on for our Blancos.

Giolito starting to 'get it'. There's been some pitching sequences that were really intelligent. Although McCann has something to do with that.

They win a lot more games with McCann behind the plate than with the other guy.

Giolito is on the cusp of becoming one of the best pitchers in the AL.

He really pitched a good game yesterday and I loved Stone's analysis of the adjustment that McCann made in their pitch selection early on in the game. He has a good assortment of pitches which fewer and fewer pitchers do nowadays. In the age of the power arms, few guys out there have more than two pitches and struggle with location on those.

Maybe when Rodon gets back and is healthy, he can figure out and tweak his delivery because he also has a good assortment of pitches but struggles making adjustments on the fly.

When healthy and pumping on all cylinders, Rodon was an ace. I doubt he will ever be again. Not with both shoulder and elbow injuries.

Rodon was never an ace. Never won double digit games or made 30 starts in a season. He showed flashes of having the talent to possibly become one, but he was never an ace at the MLB level. I will count on him for nothing until he proves otherwise at this point.

the last time Rodon was healthy was his sophomore season in college.

Was. Once he got the changeup as a show me pitch, he was an ace. Albeit, it was one part of a couple years when his shoulder was in the midst of decaying. I'm not going to debate the semantics of the word ace.

Was he an ace when he won 9 games with a WHIP of 1.44 and a WAR of 1.6? Or was he an ace when he won 9 games with a WHIP of 1.39 and a WAR of 1.8? Because those are the only two seasons he started more than 20 games and pitched more than 130 innings.

He was never an ace at the big league level.

Rodon was always a guy who needed to pitch every 5th day to be in rhythm and command. Every time he found that rhythm, he was an ace and then he'd get hurt. It was like clockwork. Come back from a layoff, struggle 4 games, find it, get hurt, try to pitch through it, fail, go on the DL.

His acehood was a couple 10 game stretches. Without getting hurt, there is no doubt in my mind those stretches would have continued. It was a career that could've been and it's a damn shame.

  You know who else had a couple of good ten game stretches? Jason Hammell, Esteban Loaiza, Jon Garland, John Danks.

You know what those guys weren't? Aces.

Carlos Rodon was never an ace at the big league level. To think otherwise is flat out wrong. There's nothing further that needs to be said or debated.

When healthy and had 4-5 games under his belt, he mowed people down. That's a fact. It's my stipulations that you can't deal with and that's fine. I don't care.
