I think I said 93 games, so this is right in the same line and with Darvish and Chatwood actually contributing to varying degrees and Heyward actually hitting like a guy making big money should be expected to hit, who knows, maybe 93 is a bit low.

It may not be quite fair to extrapolate the win total, based on their current win percentage. They had 7 games against the Marlins (won 6) and will not play them again this year. The early schedule has been a little easier than it is likely to be the remainder of the season. However the fact they have fared well of late against even stronger competition is very encouraging. Still probably need to get the closer position locked down. Now if Morrow and Strop are both back and at their best before long....it should be a fun ride.

Their total wins will still settle in the mid 90s (ish) You are going to see some 6 man rotations leading up to the ASB and more in September if they can lock the division away.

Put him at lead-off and this is what happens. Same thing happened his first season with the Cubs. He needs to be 6 or 7.

I agree they cannot be counting on him. It would be more like a great bonus if he is able to return and pitch effectively. They need to acquire a closer from a team for whom a closer is a luxury that is insignificant. A team with no ability to contend that might like a guy like Montgomery, to start every 5th day the rest of this season and next season as well.

Could you imagine this team if Heyward earned his money.? If besides great fielding, he hit 290 20hr, 95 rbi, 900 ops, yearly average for his Cubs stint. Also if he did well in postseason rather than his 100 ba, and 1 total rbi? They'd be unstoppable.

On pace for 88 at the halfway point.
