I was surprised to see people react with surprise to that today. I'm not great at catching small details of shows usually but I thought it was obvious what that scene was implying.

I was disappointed in his death.

I wish it had more build up and suspense like Littlefinger's.

So was Varys.

I didn't think that's what it was but maybe I just missed it.

If it was, his character makes even less sense.

I avoided this thread until I saw the episode. Just watched it on a 9' diagonal screen.

I liked this entire episode. Pretty spectacular!

I will say I’m glad none of these dumbass fan theories came true. No 4th dragon, no “secret Targaryen”, no “dragonstone egg factory.”

The lazy writing is out there in full cinematic glory.

But Dany had signs too. She was pretty ruthless and entitled the whole show. It isn't a shock she reacted poorly the first time her destiny seemed questionable.

Were there more signs of madness or more signs of great leadership?

I understand there were both, but I think she showed way more examples of being a great leader.

It would have made more sense had a rogue soldier sent a bolt flying at Dany after the cease fire bell...maybe nicking her...causing her to blind rage.

Once Jamie survived a double lung puncture and climbed about a thousand steps, it was pretty obvious they were going to get crushed while embracing.

They stole that from another book, Shogun maybe.

The Varys poisoning angle has me flummoxed.

Varys pledged himself to Dany 3 seasons ago. And upon learning that there's another Targaryen and that Dany hasn't shown the madness yet, he attempts to poison her? And he let's Tyrion know about it? AND then he all but confesses treason to Jon?

That just seems like bad writing.

I like a good conspiracy, and I’m am prepared to subscribe to D&D purposefully sinking this season for the benefit of Disney and Star Wars.

If the reporting is true, then there is no reason to turn down a ten episode, unlimited budget season to finish the series.

At this point it’s unforgivable.

Much respect to Brick for hanging on to his fandom these last 5 episodes.

It's definitely bad writing but he all but admitted to Tyrion he wants to kill her last episode and then early this episode he's talking to a young girl about poisoning someone important with soldiers watching. I thought it was clear what that meant.

The writing is brutal, the show went to shit 3 seasons ago.

I actually think that is a good answer.

I consider "Hardhome" the most overrated episode in TV history. The battle wasn't as good as "Bastards", "Blackwater", or the last one. And it was the dumb zombie storyline that has proven to be pointless and bad imitation The Walking Dead.

Since no one cares for the show, I'll share the spoiler I heard.

Tyrion is fired as Hand of the Queen and replaced by Curtis LeMay. Needless to say, Mr. LeMay approves of how Dany handled King's Landing

Hardhome was great at the time. It became meaningless once the Night King shit went off the rails but it felt awesome in the moment.

Watch this one until the end. The final 15 seconds had me on the floor.

Gotta say. I am very disappointed on how they have handled this entire season. It is really disjointed and to me ruined a lot of the character development that they so well set up during the seasons before. They snuffed out people at will at a blink of an eye. I've held ff saying much but this has been very rushed bullshit that pretty much has ruined a terrific series.
