nobody will give a crap about this once the next outrage comes available for the internet. usually has something to do with sergio. dude got offered an extra 15k and turned it down. he thought he would be able to create some social media buzz make kuchar feel bad and give him the 10%. a players caddy is paid based on a whole slug of things, and uses that $$ to pay for everything. travel, food, etc.

This situation is kuchar finds one of the clubs local guys, says who wants to make $3k. probably wins it having some schlug lug his clubs around, probably did all the work himself and now this guy wants to be paid like Joe LaCava.

This doesn't help

Quote:
Ortiz is a club caddie in Mexico, and was picked by Kuchar to serve as a replacement when his regular caddie was unable to make the trip. After stewing over his paltry payment for a couple of months, Ortiz sent an email to Kuchar’s agent in January asking to be paid $50,000. He was instead offered an additional payment of $15,000, which prompted Ortiz to tell Golf.com that Kuchar and his agency could “keep their money.”

Quote:
Kuchar said he did not really understand why the pay dispute has turned into such an emotional issue. Told that a $5,000 caddie payment on a $1.3 million payday seemed frugal, he nodded, but indicated he had a different view.

“For a guy who makes $200 a day, a $5,000 week is a really big week,” he said.

On PTI earlier they were mentioning how his sponsors weren't happy about the $5k joke.

Kuchar comes off like a total cheapass dbag who took advantage of the local Mexican caddying pool because he knew he could offer them pennies on the dollar and they would step over each other trying to be the one who accepted the gig.

I wouldn't be surprised if Kuchar fires his regular caddy and pulls this move at every tournament. He can save a lot of money that way.

Just released a statement apologizing for the "5k is a good week" remark, says he'll give the caddy the full share he is requesting.

Justice!

The caddy refused to bavk down and all of us who scoffed at his turning down the 15k were wrong!

I think Matt's sponsors told him this would cost him a lot more than $120,000.

I don't think Netjet cares about someone shitting on the poor. He's also got deals with Skechers and some regional energy company.

Too bad that the cat is already out of the bag. Sometimes you just can't fix STUPID. He was just STUPID and can't be fixed. He'll never get back his reputation. He is what he is.

Fair number of former caddies on this board. We've had Midlothian represented and Evanston Golf Club. I'm Crystal Tree in Orland Park. Anyone else want to chime in?

I caddied there back in the day, '79-'80. The rate was $8 for a loop, $3 tip was normal, $5 tip
was outstanding, $2 tip was common. You did get a free hot dog though....

My son currently caddies at Medinah these days, he's an "A" caddie and makes crazy money, he laughs
when I tell him what I used to make.
