I watched that, it was pretty good.

There is a John and Yoko one on there called "Above Us Only Sky." They lived in this big white house in Northern England, if you've seen the "Imagine" video, It's that house.
It would appear that they had cameras rolling constantly, though. There is a really jarring scene where an obsessed fan/Vietnam vet named Claudio shows up at their door (he had been writing letters and stuff.) John just talks to him for like 10 minutes. "Hey, man, I just write songs where the words go good together. I might write a song about having a good shit that day." Claudio is crazy-eyed, too. And then they ask him if he is hungry and invite him in. Given the way he died, it is a compelling scene to watch.

Who's gonna check out Wandering Earth? Just released on Netflix yesterday, it's the 3rd largest grossing movie of all time or something like that. Chinese sci fi movie about the future where the sun is about to bad so people try to save earth by building engines large enough to propel earth to a different solar system. I guess the movie goes into the 2500 year journey to get there and lots of drama that happens along the way.

Sounds really cool.

Knock Down The House was pretty good. It’s interesting they had camera crews following AOC around in 2017 when nobody knew who she was. The congresswoman from WV seems like a good kid.

I don't know if The OA took a ridiculous or brilliant turn to end season 2. The story bounces between wanting to have deeper, spiritual meaning and being long form reboot of Quantum Leap.

As the season ends, the OA jumps into Britt Marling, the woman who stars in and writes The OA, while she is on set filming a scene for The OA that is identical to a scene that just occurred in the story. The same is true for Happ, who jumps into Jason Isaacs, the actor who plays Happ. I don't see how this doesn't take a turn for the ridiculously meta

I cannot imagine that this is the direction Marling envisioned when creating this work. I think I see how she will save it from tuning hacky. THE STORY is eternal and all characters in the story are destined to perform their life roles, no matter the reality in which they exist. Britt=Anna=Prairie.

This will be a real test of skill in story telling not to devolve into the absurd, like Don Drysdale making a guest appearance on The Brady Bunch.

"Perfect Bid" is a pretty funny look at a guy obsessed with watching "The Price is Right", studying it and memorizing all the prices, and his quest to use his knowledge to his (and other peoples) advantage. I found it pretty fascinating.

I watched Wandering Earth. It was good. A little different than what you would get from a US blockbuster. Only 2 hours and didn't have quite the character development you would expect, but tons of action and an interesting story.

A little tough to follow the action and subtitles at the same time, but that was just a minor annoyance.

Definitely worth taking a look at.

Rolling Thunder Revue... A Bob Dylan Story.

I watch this because I'm a fanatic for Dylan. It's mildly interesting as a film. The beauty is in the concert footage and live performances of some of my favorite music by him. Scarlet Rivera is so talented as his violinist I can hardly stand it. Dylan also comes off well here on stage. I admit the guy is a bit of a weirdo but he commands these well crafted songs and the camera captures his eyes and stage presence as well as his connection to the other band members very well. This could have been better as a concert piece bio rather than whatever it is Scorcese tried to paste together.

Adam Sandler continuing to steal money. CEO Joe Netflix is taking showers every hour on the hour to wash the stink off.

But really, after the legendary "snoring on a plane" bit, the movie had nowhere to go but down. I mean, how do you follow that up?

I've watched about half of this. The project's status as a "fictionalized" documentary is strange and distracting. Not sure why he invented the Van Dorp character and other elements of the story.

But yeah, Scarlet Rivera is a revelation in the concert footage.

Yeah it was just strange with all of the fictionalization including the Sharon Stone cameo out of left field. Again the concert footage is phenomenal. I’d finish it if you haven’t seen the Rubin Carter portion.

Watched The Dirt. Not terrible.

Also watched the first season of Jailbirds. Pretty hilarious, and cringeworthy show.

I also plowed through Love, Death, and Robots.

Very impressive, and highly entertaining.

I made the mistake of starting Mad Men about 9pm last night. Shut it down at 0400... Back up by 0700.

Possibly the greatest show ever made. Yes I put it ahead of The Wire and Soprano's. Not a knock on those 2 other shows, Mad Men is just that great.

My one suggestion is that when the episode ends, don't immediately hit "skip" to the next episode. Let the credits play out as the period song choice during the credits is part of the episode.

I enjoy it a lot and have seen all of it twice but I cannot go that far. It's solidly around 5th or so for me on best shows ever.

Any gamers familiar with the story?

Is it transferable to TV?

A bunch of us are familiar.

Yes. Though the game series is loosely a sequel based off of the original books. The original writer got upset that the video games took his original story and improved on it. The author looked down upon video games so much that he allowed CD Projekt Red to give him a small, up front payment for the rights instead of asking for commission based on how well it sold.

This Netflix series I think is supposed to stick more closely to the books. For better or worse.
