Every team that doesn’t make the playoffs has an equal chance at a top 3 pick or whatever and then it goes in order from there. I don’t think tanking really affects the NFL and don’t know enough about the NHL to know if it’s an issue there, but this would almost immediately solve the biggest problems with NBA and MLB. Going into a season trying to purposely lose as much as possible is the biggest black eye/stain/whatever you wanna label it as in sports since I’ve been alive and it’s getting worse. I’m glad the NBA Draft unfolded as it did. Those teams shouldn’t have been rewarded for tanking and they weren’t.

Can the Sox get two more high draft picks before we change this?

I would consider doing it for every team, not just non-playoff teams. Especially in the NHL it would help.

Are they needing more injured pitchers?

I think the Sox are beyond help.

Unfortunately, we can't use that excuse with Fulmer.

tanking isnt an issue when your league doesnt have an excessively long regular season

Maybe they need a relegation/promotion system.

This of course would be the most optimal but it will never ever happen here.

The problem with relegationis that it is mostly about who has the richest owner. You can't have a salary cap and have relegation.

This is what they need in college football.

In the NBA I would like to totally divorce draft order from record. What I would like to see is each team get a deck of cards numbered 1 through 30. Each year one of those cards gets drawn at random and that's the team's pick. After that year, the card gets discarded and the team knows it will not pick in that spot again for at least 30 years. That way every team is guaranteed to pick in every spot once every thirty years regardless of how they finish. With that system, the hope would be that every team simply tries to build the best roster they can every year.

Adam Silver proposed that but with a wheel. Didn't take.

The teams that won the top 2 spots in the NBA draft lottery? one sat their best player 2nd half of the season and the other traded away their best player at the trade deadline.

I don’t consider NO benching Davis a tanking move. They simply didn’t want to play a guy who didn’t want to be there and would be a distraction on and off the court.

The Grizzlies never traded Mike Conley.
