Next year could be a year where the Sox become a good major league team. The key has to be getting 3 more starting pitchers including two lefties. Don't know what the prognosis is on Rodon but if he is healthy they may only need one. Cease should be ready. So should the 100 mph guy who blew out his arm(forget his name right now). I'd say Fulmer is toast in the eyes of the Sox because they are working him in the pen.

Roberts the last time I looked is struggling and may be another year or two away. 2nd base and right field could be better and they will probably bring up the kid catcher in the September call-up and he and McCann should be the two guys next season. I also expect Palka to be brought up soon to take that big chunk of meats place at first place as a left handed hitting power guy.

Right now he is an adventure in the outfield but I love his attitude and smile when he does something right defensively. I think a season of winterball working mainly on his defense will result in a competent at least left fielder.

Not a good look.

Last night's start had to have opened a lot of eyes across the league.

So the Twins have three hot starters, six guys with nine or more homers, and a closer having a career year.

But we got Ricky who Chris Sale said had a "great baseball mind".

If only someone on this thread had some insider info for us.

Maybe the other thread has such a man.

For those that care about such things, Reynaldo Lopez has the worst xFIP in baseball by a good margin.

1. Reynaldo Lopez 5.76
2. Brad Keller 5.39
3. Mike Fiers 5.37

There are only 10 guys who are lower than 5.00. Even Ivan Nova is at 4.80.

But obviously nobody is catching Ivan in ERA (6.96)

Actual FIP for Giolito is the 7th best in the majors - it’s been rising dramatically as his walk rate continues to plummet. xFIP is #37, which suggests he’s been lucky with the gopher balls.

The Twins have scored 90 runs in their last 10 games. I’m trying to trace the point where the massacres started, and it looks like it was initiated during the April 20-22 series against the Orioles where they became super confident against whatever passes for pitching in Baltimore. They now lead the majors in OPS, batting average, runs, homers, RBI, etc. And unlike Seattle in April, they might have some staying power because they have a lot of legitimate sluggers.

The good news is that you can put this "bad start" for Lopez in the "bad game bucket" and it doesn't count. You only have to count his good games. At least that is what Frank and Dolphin told me.

I like giolito, I'd still stake Lopez as the best man.

Lopez still has some serious upside if he can improve his secondary pitches. This is probably something that he should be working on in Triple A. That shit doesn’t really fly up here.

He could still be part of a potentially lethal rotation when Cease/Kopech/Dunning/etc arrive. And there’s another guy showing flashes that was actually a White Sox draft pick, if you can believe that - Konnor Pilkington. Although his ETA probably isn’t until late 2021.

Frank told you to quote where I said this, and so far you havent. The burden of proof is on you.

I can see the upside, I really think it is time for a new voice for these pitchers to hear. Sadly, that will not happen under this regime.

Get this clown back in the minors where he belongs. Cease or some other scrub in Winston-Salem can literaly do no worse than 4 runs in 4 innings.

What? On several teams I played on and coached, there always was on guy who was big and clumsy on his feet. We called this guy a big donkey. I didn't matter what he was ethnically. I hope you were just kidding with your comment.

2 on. No out.

No runs scored.

Classic White Sox.

The series underscores how far the Sox still have to go to become a contender. They can be fun to watch and are better this year, but still a lot of work to be done.

Absolutely. That was a major league ass kicking. It is amazing how far the Twins have come this season. One of the best teams in all of baseball.
