My all-time favorite sports team. They got off to a hot start, though. But yeah.

Just think: By Sunday, this town could possibly have two second-place teams!

that was a fun team.

Apparently there were 6 or so teams scouting Colome in the Royals series. His stock must really be up after he got two saves and a win in those three games. I know the Phillies, Cubs, Yankees, Boston, and St. Louis were there. Don't think the Dodgers were.

The Sox are two games out of the playoffs, and Colome is signed through next season. If they trade him they better be getting a couple of top 100 prospects, and a guy in the top 20. It would have to be like the Cubs trading Torres for Chapman.

They'd better get two good prospects Top 100? Not going to happen. He will have a lot of value, especially because of the scarcity of decent let alone very good relievers like Colome. And it also opens up the market for the smaller budget teams to make a move because of the amount of his present contract. The Sox do not have to make a move but Colome's value will never be better as I see it.

Hererra sucks. Not only has he given up runs like the last 10 times he's come in to a game, but now he can't even get his dumb ass behind the plate to back up on the throw.

He's like the 312player of relief pitchers

Nothing the Sox love more than acquiring over the hill guys who used to kill them 5 years prior

Holy cow are there some bad thoughts on possible trades.

Here I thought Hawk thinking they could get Verdugo from the Dodgers was stupid...

Even up would be a sure thing. But the Sox would get more for him. The Dodgers will be desperate after watching two World Series championships fail because of the lack of a bullpen. Verdugo is a good prospect but not a cinch prospect. The Dodgers also do not really have a spot for him so that reduces his value tradewise.

How many closers are perfect still? How many of those are available?

I am not saying Colome hasn't been good. But to think they are going to get 2 top 100 prospects for him is just stupid.

He has 150 At bats in 55 games this year. He seems to have a spot with them.

They should be asking for a lot or hanging up the phone.

If they are expecting 2 top 100 prospects then there is going to be a lot of hanging up

Then you don't trade him.

People get desperate around August.

Only one trade deadline this year.

I’m fine holding onto him if he keeps pitching like this and a team won’t pay up. I don’t think that’ll be the case though.

I am not the guy who talked about getting two of the best 100 prospects for Colome. I said that they should get two good prospects for him and potentially unloading some bad money with another player with him.

You have to understand how trades work in the major leagues. Teams have a very short window to win a championship and if they do not have a good closer they are not going to win a championship. The Dodgers just lost two World Series because of it. The Sox are in the cat bird seat with Colome. Hahn needs to do his job. Personally I'd prefer a couple of starting pitchers or a starting pitcher and an outfielder but they still have at least 5 holes for a good championship caliber team so they can still mix and match.

Yeah, but not with all of the teams interested in him right now. I said at the beginning of the season that Colome was a very good reliever and that I think he was their best pitcher on the staff. IF they keep him, then he can be a terrific reliever down the road for about 4-5 years. However, if there is right now a better player on the Sox right now that can help the Sox to help build for their future, I cannot think of a better one than he is.

They still need quite a bit. Their outfield is still weak over-all and their starting pitching is below average. 2nd base is below average as well. Bottom line still is their cheap assed fat fuck owner is still who he is and doesn't have a clue about building a very good baseball team.
