I like the idea of having the 8th and 9th locked down. It will never happen. I would guess you would have to promise Kimbrel the closer spot.

Plus Bummer coming in before them with how he’s been this season. Would be awesome.

Sucks Jerry doesn’t want to win.

With all the surplus money out there it’s pretty wild to me that a team hasn’t agreed to like a 1 year $20-25M deal with Keuchel yet.

Bullpens are really the key to winning in the playoffs.

I worry about all the stupid mistakes we make too. Tim Anderson is a fun player, but he is always good for a base running fuck-up or an error. I love him as a secondary player, a plus at the bottom of the line-up, but he can't be one of your count on stars.

But to me that goes back to the front office. I agree with you on that assessment going forward but we are wasting what might be a career year from him and a year we CAN count on him on days like today and our ownership/front office is too cheap/incompetent to pull the trigger. There’s a clear avenue towards competing this year without sacrificing years of bloated payroll and they aren’t taking it.

Imagine if every Santana/Baneulos start was replaced by Keuchel. We’re probably solidly the 2nd wildcard team at this point. What would it take to sign him?

Possible wasted career years: Timmy, McCann, Colome.

All because the ownership is too cheap to field a competitive team after years of tanking payroll and on field performance.

There were other pitchers they could have signed as well. Why no veteran starters?

One other positive this year, Luis Robert looks like a star.

That's why tanking is bad. You never know what's going to happen in any given year.

Right. Especially at this point of the rebuild.

It’ll be fun to trade Giolito in 2021 for a hotshot 3B prospect.

Seemed to be pretty solid the last couple years. Regardless, this isn’t the year to have among the lowest payrolls in baseball. The team is showing this is the year to compete. Shameful the front office isn’t supporting that.

Get real. At some point Boston will get it together. Kimbrel, Keuchel, it wouldn't matter. Just enjoy the possible .500 season.

Keuchel will sign in a week after the draft, I'd like to see the Sox grab him @ 3-66 million.

FF doesn't like the White Sox because the owner is Jewish. Biggy Daddy Jerry may very well be an elder at the gates of Zion but his Jewish cabal does not pull the levers of my fandom.

Nobody has said they expect the Sox to contend for the 2019 World Series. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy their relative success, along with individual players who are having some really good seasons.

Missed today's game because my son was graduating grammar school. Kind of bullshit scheduling a graduation Mass during a Giolito start. The Church needs to be flexible. Or the school could just mail the damn diploma.

Eaton's team next.

Yup.

Another start or two like these last couple and he will start the All Star game for the AL.
Yup.

White Sox right-hander Lucas Giolito was named American League Pitcher of the Month Monday. The 24-year-old was 5-0 with a 1.74 ERA over 41 1⁄3 innings covering six starts in May.

Sox shortstop Tim Anderson was named AL Player of the Month for April. Anderson and Giolito are the first Sox tandem to win the honors in consecutive months since Frank Thomas (August) and left-hander Wilson Alvarez (September) in 1993.

Paul Sullivan has some pretty terrible ideas on how to contend this year. Bring up Cease so you can release Nova?

There are two other guys worse than Nova already. Bring up Cease and sign Keuchel if you want to contend.

What? Secondary player? He is an all-star player RIGHT NOW. He is good defensively and has been consistently very good offensively. Truly a five tool player and that is rare for a short-stop.
