That’s seems like a poor comp. Young doesn’t suck at hitting supposedly.

It was a very good pick. He is probably the best hitter in the draft. I think it is going to be a rapid rise to the bigs. My guy, Lodolo, went to the Reds at 7 as expected. I think he is going to be a good major league starter. He also can hit and not be an automatic out. 8) 8) 8)

I like it.

Of course nobody has any idea what anyone will turn into, but I like it just the same.

I am confused as to what is gonna happen.... Collins I would assume, comes up this year. He is not really a catcher, and I would guess they have him play 1B/DH and maybe a 3rd C. 2021, Vaughn comes up? Do they resign Abreu this offseason?

We don't know that. His power numbers are pretty good and defensively he has improved. He needs a full season in 3A. The guy that they should probably bring up is Palka. He is hitting bombs down there in 3A.

I'm generally down on guys who lack the athleticism to play any position other than 1B at the collegiate level. Occasionally you get a Paul Goldschmidt, but they're rare.

Drafting athletes wasn’t working for the Sox.

Drafting isn’t really working out for the Sox. I’m not sure there’s a need to descriminate.

That SP rotation is littered with nothing but projects and hopefulness.

Collins is not a Catcher, Rodon is not gonna be on this team too much longer, might wanna throw Eloy at DH, Burger is a bum.

True. I’m banking on Giolito/Cease/Kopech as core members of the rotation.

With a Miami Marlins level payroll next year, I’d be looking at Gerrit Cole. He has the best xFIP in baseball. A fluky HR/9 rate thus far has his ERA at 4.00. I’d also look at Zack Wheeler. He shows flashes of being outstanding. It’s hard to believe that he’s already 29. To say that his career got sidetracked is a serious understatement.

As far as position players go, I’m definitely interested in Nick Castellanos. The foursome of Rutherford/Basabe/Gonzalez/Adolfo is looking like shit right now. There was a point in May where I decided to unfollow all of the Sox minor league teams on twitter because I just couldn’t handle the fact that these guys are on the fast track to flipping burgers.

As of June 4:
Rutherford - Mendoza Line
Basabe - .268 slugging
Gonzalez - OPS less than .600
Adolfo - Mendoza Line

Steele Walker has also been struggling to stay above the Mendoza Line since being promoted to Winston Salem in April.

You can tell me that it’s a small sample size and I need to be patient, but my eyes are bleeding, nonetheless. These guys are playing like fucking clowns and threatening to destroy the good vibes. So an outfield of Jimenez/Robert/Castellanos would help to remove some of the stench.

Other than that horrific uniform? Watched him on some videos and he seemed like a legit prospect to develop. HE has a frame that could end up with a guy who is about 6'2" and 195# which is good. Looks athletic and he can spin the ball pretty well for a high school guy. YOu never know about high school prospects that haven't grown into their adult frame yet.

He's averaging around 93-94 MPH which puts him high in high school fastballs and has a good high school curve. My guess is that he may end up slotting in as a closer down the road but you never know.
