+1 because my 4yo daughter has added "that's not fair!" to her vocabulary and uses it at the slightest provocation.

It's fine for them, just not 25-70+ year old goofs who increasingly toss it out whenever mildly challenged.

My son is 7 and is huge into "_____ is not fair!!" Drives me up the wall. He's cleaning up the living room and bitching that only half the mess was created by him. I'm doing the dishes and I just say "I didn't use all these dishes either yet here we are..."

Exactly the same tactic I used with my sons. They never utter the meaningless word around me. :lol:

I tell my seven year old that life isn't fair, and the sooner he understands that, the better off he will be.

Hide his laundry. Tell him that you (or his Mom) didn't dirty up those clothes, so it wasn't fair that you had to wash them.

That just keeps the stupid argument going. My way pretty much ends it.

not words, per se, but annoying catch/buzz phrases;
'speak truth to power'

'real estate in your head'

Here's one I seem to be seeing a lot lately....
"Play stupid games, win stupid prizes".
It's right there with 'special snowflake' in terms of the person stating it probably thinks they're the first person to coin that adage.

yea, that's a really dumb nomination.

I am especially fond of that saying because there used to (might still be there) be a bar on North Ave in Oldtown and in the bathroom someone had scrawled "SAVE SOVIET JEWS" on the wall and underneath it someone else had scrawled "WIN VALUABLE PRIZES".

OK, so I'm out of touch by not knowing it was such a popular catch phrase to barf out like some timeless quote.
That's what I get for wading into the comment section cesspools of the world.
I'm glad that well meaning posters such as yourself, shakes and FavreFan brought it to my attention.

Just pointing it out my friend. There’s common knowledge we all first learn all the time. It was a pretty big thread once upon a time.
