Yeah I agree with getting him I just think we’re not getting years past Kimbrel. Hope I’m wrong .

That is definitely a concern. But I think it is a gamble worth taking.

They didn't really have a choice.

I guess it's good they got someone.

He's not been in the NL for the last 3 years so maybe the hitters won't be use to him at the beginning of his Cubs stint.

While I am happy and optimistic about this move, I also think about the Cardinals last year bringing Greg Holland on board without any spring training and being awful. He wound up being released with an ERA just under 8. Of course he was very good afterwards with the Nationals. I just hope Kimbrell hits the ground running.

I'm usually "Mr Positive", but I'll wait 'n see on this one. Theo's free agent track record is a concern.

going to be fun when he is just good enough for it to vest and Jed Hoyer has to sit there with Heyward, Darvish and Kimbrel while Theo moves on to be commissioner

I just hope they take their time with him and don't rush him in, we've got him for a long time.

Worst case scenario. Kimbrel is a total bust. Now, busts Heyward, Darvish, and Kimbrel have multiple years left. Morrow has a 3 mil buyout next year thankfully. Zobrist gone. The Bote long term for peanuts is an intriguing safety valve. Home grown guys who actual produce will need to be reupped soon. Possibly Jey Hey could give Theo a pep talk to keep him off the bottle? Or, Theo bolts, and abandons ship?

How is it that Dallas Keuchel, who signed after Kimbrel, has already started in an MLB game, yet Kimbrel is still in the minors?

Keuchel was throwing every 5th day and pitching to live competition since April. Mostly to high school teams and a junior college team. That be a great experience though for them kids to get pitched to from a Mlb star like that.
