The Invasion of Normandy brought a quicker end to the war and prevented Germany from using France's resources. It also prevented communist expansion into Western Europe. While the Russians destroyed the bulk of the German army, that doesn't take away from the Allied's victory. Its importance can't be understated or diminished for the US or for Europe. Thousands died valiantly as true heros. Few days in history as significant and it should always be remembered. This may not be a fashionable thing for me to say but oh so true.
