Well I was planning to go with my lady friend to Oz but she changed her mind and wanted to see Chicago.

So we are planning a trip in August.

Planning stay downtown.

You guys know any deals on hotels in downtown?

Also planning to go to a Sox or cubs game. Depends who is in town.

It will be fun!

Not downtown, but the Aloha Motel on 85th & Cicero is a good choice.

You could probably get a room from Denis, if you don't mind staying in a Pulte shit hole. He might be in his Wisconsin vacation house anyway.

When going to get hot chocolate one day, we saw what we thought was a dead guy there when we were about 11. He way lying on his back, half in, half out of the door, not moving. We ran. One of us, JC, said we should tell his dad since he was a cop, so we ran to JC's house. I don't even think we got to tell JC's dad that there was what looked like a dead guy at the hotel, because as soon as we mentioned the name of the place, he whacked JC--hard, like in the Bad News Bears--and then ripped into the rest of us.

I hope HY has a better experience should he choose to lodge there.

How is the Congress Hotel like? Looks old but maybe that's its charm? I like the location right in the middle of downtown/grant park.

Supposedly haunted. My boss stayed there once and the housekeeping was so bad that he banned our company from ever putting anybody there again.

There are some nice affordable chain name hotels by Mich Ave. Like a block away.

Isn't that the hotel where the maid staff was on strike for years?

Congress Plaza is aight, it's like a step up from the combo apt/hotel/homeless shelter places that used to be all over downtown LA (Milner/Cecil). Congress reminded me of the hotel above Detroit's City Club, without the post-zombie apocalypse ambiance of the Detroit hotel. Unrenovated early 20th century rooms papered over with flat-screens and knock-off ikea furnishings. There's supposedly a room on the 4th floor of the Congress with a rep similar to the fun room from that John Cusack movie.

The "home of the four hour nap"?

Please tell me that's still on the sign.

It seemed like they were on strike for half a decade.

I guess this falls into some recent posts but I would never consider buy WSox gear as a Cub fan.

Now I don't care. I just root for Chicago in everything.

I think places like walmart/target probably sell the regular Wsox black hats, but i've been looking on mlb.com and the wsox have some pretty cool hats.

The nice ones run like $25 and up. But they sure look good.
