It always makes me laugh when we get some random article about a womens college basketball game or something. That has to get 1/10th of the hits of their latest thinkpiece on why a dumb college basketball coach calling someone named King "Queen" is problematic.

 IIRC the only time she mentions women's sports is when she complains about the lack of coverage they receive; even though she doesn't write about them herself.

Holy shit look at this burrito:

Quote:
“I’m a revolutionary communist and I stand behind everything I’ve ever said when it comes to politics,”

Quote:
“Pizza Peel, knowing my activism, having access to my social media and were totally comfortable,” Woods explained. “I routinely stated that every department of the Homeland Security should be executed for war crimes. I have said that, if a Republican is injured you should refuse to offer them medical help.”

Quote:
The protesters vowed to continue their demonstrations unless four community-conscious demands were met by Stomp Chop & Roll, Pizza Peel’s ownership group:

Every restaurant owned by Stop Chomp & Roll must display a Black Lives Matter sticker on the door for one year.
Each location must donate $1,000 to charities that benefit black people.
All of the managers will undergo sensitivity training administered by black, gay and trans people who are paid for their training.
A sum of $1,500 per month in food be given to the homeless in the community surrounding each location.

Whew lord............

Remember that album that sent six singles to the radio for two years back when that actually meant something? It was Actually Bad. Thanks for setting our writer straight, husband-as-literary-device.

This feels like apostasy. Alanis has lived in my head for the past two decades as the artful embodiment of a powerful, unruly, inspiringly angry woman. The same year that I first listened to Jagged Little Pill, my dad took me to see her perform at the Greek Theater in Berkeley. We stood in the mosh pit, where plaid-wearing, twenty-something Cal students openly smoked pot, looking extremely impressed with themselves.

Ahhh, so she just realized she's a self-loathing dipshit. It all makes sense now.

The left does do better with Jacobin, The Baffler, and if you have the patience of a saint, maybe Current Affairs. Splinter never had the resources to be an actual news-gathering site, but their opinion pieces never had the academic cachet of the aforementioned, either. It was mostly just "Donald Trump Is Dumb And Does Dumb Things Because He's Dumb" or Hamilton Nolan making bad arguments. It sucks in some sense to see it go, but these Brooklyn journalists are all thick as thieves and always end up landing on their feet as one VC-funded content mill closes and another opens.

A bunch of people misrepresenting news disingenuously just to turn people against each other isn't better. When I see a left leaning publication with the courage to report facts like that asylum seekers are free to leave "inhumane" condition on the border at any time or that a handful of officer-involved shootings a year in a country with eight guns for every person doesn't constitute a black genocide.

The right does this stuff too but they are really just imitating what they've learned. The truth is the left can't do better and these lies of their have mobilized a sea of hatred and nonsense that cannot be drained. Its even infected Nas, who used to be free thinking but now buys into the ridiculous notion that the Republican party cares more about sticking it to minorities than winning elections.

There's really no evidence for that at all. Not in policy or rhetoric.

They generally dont like unskilled immigrants, criminals or people who dont work. They have no issues going after them. It just so happens that many (not even most!) people who fall into those categories aren't white. Your Brain on Leftism tricks you into honestly believing that Republicans are just using those things as coded language to stick it to the blacks. Not that were all really fatigued of having to accommodate economic opportunity being sapped by people working for under minimum wage, pervasive crime and a bunch of obese lazy entitled do-nothings sitting at home all day.

The constant state of leftist hysteria that everything is some devious parallel to the 1930's always sounds so fucking ridiculous whether its being written by talentless Gawker hacks or stuffy academics for Jacobin Magazine.

That era is over. VC's have learned the hard way that these ventures are just flushing cash down a toilet so they'll dry up soon.
