I am all for supporting a crappy team and I’m not the type of fan who only supports the team when it’s winning but that doesn’t apply to a team like the Bulls whose ownership makes no effort to assemble a contemporary, competitive team.

Why would anyone still go to a Bulls game?

They like basketball and are a fan of the Bulls, probably.

Received free tickets from work last year and took my daughter.

We left after the 3rd quarter. Bulls where down double digits against the Nets.

Best thing about the game was Coolie's live performance of Gangster's Paradise.

Let that sink in for a second.

Yeah but you don’t strike me as much of a basketball fan.

I loved old school basketball. Not the video game style they play today.

I was able to adjust to the new football rules and baseball is slowly trending down. Don't watch as much as I used to because of the fundamental differences in new school and old.

Read up Pippen contract negotiations during that run. Assuming you dismiss that, yes he paid up for the most dominant, most marketable team in sports in the last 30 years. In the last 20 years, name a single thing he’s done that counters the idea that he’s a cheap, shitty owner who values profit motive above all else. I’ll wait.

So he owned the "most dominant, most marketable team in sports in the last 30 years"-but he's a cheap, shitty owner. In other words, take away his signature accomplishment. OK, then he still has a championship with a baseball team that was on the verge of moving the decade prior to his takeover.

I don't want to put words in your mouth, but can I assume you're quick to gloss over the 6 NBA championships because he inherited Jordan? Maybe taking over a team with an all time great in his second year guarantees you will preside over multiple championships-right, Dan Gilbert?

Since Rose got injured, his teams have been bad, no doubt. That said, he's the greatest owner this city ever had. Tell me who else would even be in that conversation.

I'll wait.

Halas would be close. Even Ricketts. He's only owned the previously hapless Cubs for 10 years.

Halas was a horrid owner for the last twenty years of his life. It's laughable that there was a segment of the media and fan base that continually made excuses for his futility, including but not limited to Mugs Halas' death.

Halas stopped being "great" when Sid Luckman got old.

8 championships with him, 1 without him. I was just counting rings. If you' want to count intangibles, how about Veeck?

Halas hired Ditka, so I'm thinking that championship is related to him as well.

If you would have said Jim Finks, it would be more appropriate imo. The game otherwise passed Halas by in the late sixties. Certainly by the late sixties.

And worst of all he left the team to his professionally inept family.

Ditka may be the most overrated Bear in history imo. He was a great coach for three years and a waste thereafter.

And I really wonder how great a player he really was, and how much is meatball nostalgia.

And in cold hard fairness, another title and the Ricketts may surpass them all.

YOu calling anyone else a meatball is hilarious. Ditka was a terrific football player and as good a tight end as ever played the game. He also was a very coach assistant coach and head coach.

No, just the ones who were born on third base and thought that they hit triples (see: McCaskey, Michael)

Reports of the time suggest that he couldn't hold John Mackey' s jock. I doubt "as good as ever". And Ditka was nothing much as a special teams coach and was a shitty head coach after 86. Couldn't beat Walsh, Gibbs and Parcells as a Bear, and couldn't beat anyone during the fraud he foisted on New Orleans. Face it, Brian Billick and Tony Dungy each have as good a coaching record, if not better than Ditka.

2-1 vs Parcells

Muggs dying screwed up the succession plan.

I agree about Reinny and the Bulls. I stopped watching all pro basketball and one of the reason was how shitty the Bulls ownership and management is.

NBA basketball is the best it's ever been. Internationally, basketball has almost caught up with American basketball. And that's good for the NBA.

It's got a fade out, doesn't it? I hate fucking fade outs, man. Perfect lead vocal, though. But if you and I were in a drunken, bloody, bare-knuckle fist fight about the relative merits of Motown classics, and you were to place "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" above "Tears of a Clown" or "Tracks of my Tears," then I am truly sorry, but I will tell your family that you died honorably.

The Temptations were great and inneresting over time. There was that shift in black music from love songs to really angry shit (papa was a rolling stone).

Finks didn't hire a good head coach and had two chances to do so.

He did build an awesome roster, but the Old man got the coach that got the job done.
