I can also see the bright spots, but the Machado thing ruined me. It's not so much about Machado itself....it was just the painful reality that the team will only win by being lucky, as opposed to being organizationally...smart, planful, and aggressive. They'll always find a way to try cutting a corner for the sake of the bottom line.

I agree, I think this is gonna get real good in the next year or two. My biggest question is, are they gonna spring for some SP? And I do not mean a couple of 5th starters.

Gerrit Cole is the obvious choice but if you think JR was cheap with Machado, his head explodes over giving pitchers big, long term contracts.

Next year's rotation should include Giolito, Kopech, Cease and Lopez. I think there is sufficient indefiniteness with that group to sign both a big name and a veteran innings eater for the back end.
