Dan, I think you were much more respectful to your guest from Vox than necessary. He was clearly trying to build a name for himself on the back of another person's famous work. He showed no sophistication with the subjects of disco, the disco sucks movement or the events of the night. An opinion (and accusations) as strong as his demanded greater research on the part of the writer. I appreciate your restraint and good interview. I doubt you changed his mind entirely but I think he did feel a little embarrassment over how unsupportable his thoughts were when challenged with adversarial scrutiny.

Good work. This is the type of stuff I love to hear from the Score.

Agreed.

Not quite as good as Bernstein reciting a Joe Sheehan piece but pretty close.

I said this on the other thread, but this is why I'm glad Bernstein is no longer the face of the station. 670 would be picking up this cocksucker's torch if not for McNeil.

Bernstein disagreed with a lot of the piece during his show, Connor was all “I’ll have to look at this with a new perspective in light of recent events” bullshit.

I'm honestly surprised to hear that. I guess he doesn't need to promote his SJW brand anymore.

Once upon a time, Steve Dahl was funny....when he had Gary with him. Rock and metal is my preferred music, but I like funk....and yes...I like the old disco stuff. I think Dahl is a douche and hasn't been relevant in over 20 years, but I find it hard to believe his intentions were anything other than doing a funny promo to advance his career. The idea of it was funny.

Mac went above and beyond to give this guy a chance to support his column. He never came close and has zero clue about Steve Dahl, Disco, and Chicago radio market. He confirmed any and all stereotypes on Millennials and should immediately run back to his parents basement in seclusion.

I vaguely remember he agreed with all the stuff about disco being music for the gay and black community and there being a white male backlash, but DDN was Dahl being Dahl. Think Connor also went with the burning any kind of art is problematic, but it might have been Dan.

That's a great Connor opinion.

Those records weren't single prints of some governmentally designated decadence. Break one record and the company was more than happy to sell you another from its warehouse containing millions of copies.

Dan, you should have thrown down your stories of hash induced fabulousness as a teenager at the beginning of the interview to establish your bona fides to discuss the topic from multiple viewpoints. There is no doubt he was assuming your sexuality. You could have rocked his world with:

"you may think you're gay but you've never been small town Indiana, blowing your best friend gay"

while we are the topic of homosexuality hidden in plain sight: I read at another site the other day that in the classic Billy Batts scene in Goodfellas, after he sends Tommy on his way, Batts returns to his party and talks about buggering young punks in prison. I didn't believe it but someone broke it down and boom! steak dinner Batts tells his group in a kind of garbled tone about his prison romances.

It's not gay if it happens in prison!

I like how Latinos add themselves on to these instances of historical oppression. Next thing you know, the re-make of Roots will have Latinos working in the fields, speaking in a beautiful creole that only they and those of African descent and proud Asian Americans and white coal miners and gays and trans folks and B-caddies and the neuro-diverse can understand.

I just assumed that's what happened on the distant Northwood fishing & camping trips with the guys.
