Stance usually aren't quite as pricey as the DT's. Personally prefer Stance over Darn Tough. DT's feel too body armourish.

FootJoy makes some great socks. For an overweight guy who walks up to 15 miles on a weekend, their ProDry series cannot be beat in my opinion. Awesome comfort, at least in the short ankle or below ankle styles that I buy. Depending on where you buy them probably $5-8 a pair but well worth it if not your everyday socks. I have heard good things about Stance and might buy a few for work. I'm really hard on socks and throw them out constantly.

I have some bombas, they're decent, nothing special. Darn Tough are the best socks you can buy...but expensive. Generic white socks are just fine for the gym.
