Does anyone else find these Jen Patterson commercial reads as painful as I do? She makes Doug Buffone reading copy sound like Gregory Peck or Marlon Brando.

I've always found Jen's reading anything to be painful. The girl simply can't read for radio.

Just listen to Dan Bernstein sometime. THAT'S how to read for radio. Keep it conversational...sound like you're talking to one person. Jen sounds like she forcing it.

Program Directors are supposed to work with on-air talent on their delivery. What Jen really needed to do was cut her teeth in a crap-sized market and work her way up...learning the skills (like how to read for radio) as she went. This is what you get when you take someone off the street and put them on-air in a Top 5 radio market.

I find her reads to be oddly hypnotizing. It's a kind of disinterestedly cheery and slightly seductive version of a ransom note reading with a slight Chicaaago accent.

I would like her to read every commercial.

There you go! She can replace Russ.

Nobody does a worse live commercial read than Roma on WLS. That woman cannot get through one sentence without flubbing it and that is not an exaggeration. She is horrible.

I pray to the Healthy Trinity everyday that she never reads another commercial.

Any client paying her money to do a live read is a masochist.

Do you think Mike is aware that Streetwise is the name of a publication produced by homeless people?

Never understood the charm of that couple and why are they on a station like LS in the morning. They sounds like cranky grandparents.

Jen Jen's wooden, lifeless read of the Zed 454 spots are a real treat.

It is bad. The key to reading a commercial is to act like you're not reading. She failed. It is a strange read that does captivate you cuz it's weird and seductive. Like someone said, Bernsie does it well. Even Boers and Jurko know how to do it.

Is that the one where she drinks the energy drink on the rooftop bar and . . . oh, no wait, those are two different commercials. Sorry, her monotone read kind of makes them all run together in my mind.

Do you guys remember a few years ago when Channel 5 had the "Traffic Apprentice" contest? Jen Jen entered, and the her clip was very awkward. IIRC, it made the Zed 454 read look (sound) good.

No. But I remember when B&B would play the clip of Jen reporting on the Chicago marathon. It was bad.

It was something like "Thanks for having me here. They're really running hard. Back to you."

Jen should smoke 2 packs a day and become a radio traffic girl.

Hey, she was a good enough reporter (in Mike's mind) to be sent over to "cover" the Winter Olympics in Italy a few years ago, although I seem to remember a lot more "coverage" of restaurants and cute guys she saw than actual Olympics news.

Then you wonder why she's loyal and indebted to Mike?

Yeah I remembered that she was pointing to the Eisenhower and calling it the Stevenson or something like that....
