Abreu ain't going anywhere. I only WISH the Yankees were hard recruiting. I only WISH the Yankees would offer a top prospect. And Abreu only WISHES the Yankees would offer him 3 years this off season.

I think we can put this hard recruiting to bed. All Abreu is hoping for is not being the next Moustakas.

Notice, that Sox have not really said anything about re signing him. Why pay $16 mill a year, when you can have a rookie play there next year? BTW, I think it is a no brainer to sign him

Regarding Abreu I assume they understand the importance of the Cuban culture they have there. If they really think there is value there he will be here. If for whatever reason one of the younger Cuban guys seems to be the clear leader (soon) then he can go.

I think we've all become to comfortable with being able to plug 30 and 100 into the first base slot at the beginning of the year and have lost an appreciation for its value.

You can see the diminution beginning. The OBP and AVG have slipped and I don't think the career averages are returning. I'll take the power and run production at a reasonable salary of about $15 million for the next two years and be happy to have him. He should be happy with that as well in years 33-34. I'm not sure the market would bear much more and might be less. He certainly isn't a $20 million per year player. Maybe someone would give him an additional year.

He looks like he is having fun and all of his public statements back it up.

If Vaughn, Sheets or Collins kick down the door and can command a spot at MLB, great. Jose moves to DH

Yes, I want Abreu back very much. Mostly, I want him in the lineup during a supposed pennant race next year and the playoffs the following year. Even declining, he will be dangerous and won't miss mistakes under pressure, I'd like to assume. We kinda had someone like that named Dye.

A two year contract, a mutual option for the third year, and a waiving of his no trade clause if the White Sox are 5+ games out of the wild card at each year's all star break.

I think this kinda hits on me wanting them to re sign him. With Robert coming up and with Moncada, I think he is really important.

I've been saying that also. Not just Cuban culture but Hispanic culture in general. But you can tell that Abreu is the leader of that entire group and he is having a lot of fun with the young players on the team. I hope that they re-sign him or at least give him a solid offer which reflects both his all-star ability and his leadership value on the team.

I have also been very critical of Renteria but I will say that he does have a value as a Hispanic coach for a team that has such a multi-cultural assortment of players. He still shits as a game manager, though.

I got $50 says he’s on the opening day roster for the White Sox in 2020

I'm not. I am considering. It seems fair. We're a long way from opening day.

You're Bricking, and that's cool. White Sox fans emulate each other.

I've stated the following:

• It isn't in the White Sox interest to resign a declining Jose Abreu
• It is public knowledge that the Yankees are looking at him for their 2020 squad

I have never said what team I thought Abreu was most likely to play with next season. I've said I wished he weren't on your favorite team, so that you fans may more accurately judge his skill and contributions.

That being said, you've asked about a wager and I am considering it.

What does quoted for posterity mean if it wasn’t a prediction?

Yeah that was some textbook “over his head” type shit. Collins isn’t close to being major league ready. He’s probably a bust.

They need to bring Mercedes up. I think that he is the real deal, offensively and defensively.

Why don't you just shut up with shit like this and try real hard to contribute something baseball related on this thread. Mercedes, to me, is a legit prospect who has hit and hit for power throughout his progression in baseball. He should be brought up and tested in the bigs. I think he will be a keeper.

Hawk is correct. It appears there's something there. He is indeed tearing it up this year.
