Pretty damn good game. Two out homer to tie in the ninth, great baserunning play in extras, good starting and relief pitching . . . good game.

Winning this series has erased the taste of the 7 game losing streak.

That AB by Abreu was terrific and the mark of a really good technical hitter. The shift was on. The pitcher was throwing BBs out there and Renteria put on a hit and run. Abreu, for a guy who can hit the ball a long way, also has the capability to shorten his stroke and put the ball into play. And think of the distance that the right fielder had to go to get that ball. :bom: :bom:

Kudos to Abreu and Moncada for busting his ass on his run.

Got to love McCann. If they don't re-sign the guy, I will really be pissed.

Pitcher just blocked the plate before he caught the ball. Is MLB ignoring this now?

You were funny when you first came on here. First you were right wing, then you were left wing. Then you shifted to Victim Bob.

Now, you're just a joyless fuck with the maturity of a kid in detention.

A lot of players block the bags with their feet. I don't think it is against the rules. You just can't use your whole body.

He was rushing his pitches and lost his control. Still only gave up a couple of hits, right? He's got good stuff. You can tell that the talent is there just like Lopez and Giolitto. It will get better as he takes his turns on the mound. I'm more worried about the two guys coming off TJ surgery. But I'm really worried that the old Jewish miser isn't going to pony up for a couple of legit starters. If they go into next season with just the guys currently under their control, they are going to waste what will be an awesome everyday batting line-up.

I was just flagged for being a racist by the LURKER, LTG. Something about bitching about the old Jewish miser who owns this team. When was the last time, that putz had anything to say on this board anyway?

I believe that the rule is that a fielder can block the base as long as he has possession of the ball or that the throw is coming to him. He cannot deliberately block the runner without the ball or if the throw is not on its way. Fielders who do this stuff, though, are risking some serious injury by spikes first slides or collisions by the runner who has a head of steam bearing down on them.

I didn't see the play in question but if a pitcher is on the receiving end of a throw to home, if he blocks the plate, I think he is stupid because that runner can really hurt him with his slide. I don't believe that the runner can bowl him over, though like he can a catcher.

There were reportedly Major League scouts from 6 clubs at last night's game: Who can we get for Colome?

Colome didn't pitch last night.

I said this in another thread, but I would ask above and beyond for Colome. Maybe a good closer is a luxury the Sox don't need right meow, but this guy has been the goods and he is under contract for next season. So best case scenario, you get a huge return for him. "Worst" case scenario is the Sox go into Spring Training 2020 knowing they have a damn good closer to build their bullpen around.

Alright, we need this game tonight. I need more than a best of Hawk perfect game calls to get back into the season.
