Here is a question sort of along the same lines.

Running some errands yesterday. I saw a convertible being driven with the top down.....yet all of the windows were still rolled up.

What is the fucking point of putting the top down on a convertible yet leave the windows up?

Fair question, but I don't think so. Looked like two couples riding in the car, one in front and the other in back.

It's like driving with the sun roof open. The windows up allow for conversation. Also, if it's a little cold or hot you can run with the AC or heat on and it actually works.
