Dutch actor Rutger Hauer, best known for his role in the 1982 film "Blade Runner," has died, his management agency confirmed to CBS News. He was 75.

The Rutger Hauer Starfish Association, his nonprofit aimed at HIV and AIDS awareness, also issued a statement Wednesday saying Hauer died at his home Friday, July 19, after a "very short illness."
Hauer played Roy Batty, a murderous replicant, in Ridley Scott's sci-fi dystopia "Blade Runner." Variety first reported the news of Hauer's death.

used to watch the terrible sub movie hostile waters on HBO all the time... their russian accents were exhibit A on why it was OK for Chernobyl to be done with english actors.

I read somewhere he kinda, sorta ad-libbed part of that.

Either way, cool dude and good actor. Good on the Chann Zero show.

enjoyed his 'personable asshole' films, The HItcher, Blind Side. Tho I'd prolly be cheering for whomever's the bad guy to prevail over the likes of Jennifer Jason Leigh, C Thomas Howell or Ron Silver.

He was a solid menace in anything he was in, like the "No Country for Old Men" guy.

Very good in Flesh and Blood with a young Jennifer Jason Leigh. He was in True Blood several years ago in a bit role. Kinda crazy that Harrison Ford is still reprising his old roles while co-stars are checking out.

Of course he was good in Blade Runner, but that was a strange movie. I used to like it, until I realized it was a movie about a cop in Harrison Ford going around and killing people in cold blood.

Good in Escape from Sobibor and Fatherland as well. Decent tv movies that were decent mostly because of him.

If memory serves that was like a cheaper but better version of K-19: The Widowmaker. Harrison Ford's accent in that movie might be the worst I've ever heard by a professional actor.

“Soldier of Orange” is one of his best works too. And Paul Verhoeven’s.

He also kicked ass in that movie with Joan Chen. Saw it in college, was wasted.

Original Blade Runner took place in 2019 and Roy died in that year so does Rutger. Kinda strange huh
